Here is what they use now , only flown on Sundays by a little old Shiek from Al Kharj . In the background it appears that this pic was taken at Prince Sultan AB

New tankers for the RSAF makes no sense. The KE-3s they already have are only about 18 years old, and they don't use those to often.

France flip-flops over Saudi air tanker deal
Quite right. Morons!
Now, a misstep like this makes even less sense. Timing means a lot to the Saudis, if they were not ready to announce a buy of 2 A-330MRTTs, they may just walk away from the deal. This could be a major imbarassment to them, and their image with the US.

That info has been floating around for several weeks now, I can remember to have read something about this in early December IIRC. Talk has always been about two or three A330 MRTT, so the press report now is not really this surprising.

I had not heard that. Was it only reported in the EU? It could have been as a 2 airplane buy, even for military aircraft is not real big news. At least not as big as Anna Nichol Smith dieing and Senator Obama announcing he is running for the POTUS (God help us, Presidential campaines were very painful when they only ran for a year, this one will run for 2 years).
After all, ABC, CBS, NBC, BBC, CBC, CNN, MSNBC, and FoxNews know what is real news.
