doubt there would be any flight restrictions, but there is extra security on the ground.

Here is a link to it taxiing to the Boeing ramp:

Were the "United States of America" titles and the flag on the tail removed before the aircraft arrived at PAE?

I saw her this morning and thought she was a movie one. I was about to start a new topic but I checked the KPAE Paine Field page and saw that she was, indeed, #28000.

I don't think removing the titles will make the plane any less recognizable... I'm assuming it's in for some sort of mx or upgrades?

I would imagine MX is handled at Andrews AFB. And I would think upgrades would be handled at Boeing Wichita, who did the original outfitting.

There was a 744F that went into the paint hangar (I believe it is a China Airlines bird since one appeared on the flight-line this morning), so perhaps #28000 is in for a new paint-job since no 744Fs are ready for paint (there is one being outfitted now in the factory, but she's not ready for paint yet).

Boeing Wichita,

There might be security concerns now about Wichita since they are a Canadian company ?

[EDIT: Sorry, I see that military mods are still being handled by Boeing Wichita. Ignore the comment]

I did notice that! However it says:

"You will not reproduce, retransmit, distribute, disseminate, publish, enter into a database, display, modify, create derivative works, or in any way exploit any part of this website without expressed written consent"

Looks like you're "transmitting", "distributing", "publishing" and "displaying" a URL that is part of his website to me, which, according to the blurb is not allowed "without expressed written consent" and even then only for "personal" use!

Boy, you're gonna be in trouble!  sarcastic

There was a thread a few weeks back about a presidential jet at Wichita without markings. I bet the heavy work was done at Wichita and then they sent her up to PAE for paint.

Legal considerations provided by: Dewey, Cheatum, and Howe
25 Stitch: They pulled her rudder this morning, so I am thinking they're going to re-paint her (since the rudder will need to be painted off-tail for balance iss
26 WestWing: Small observation from the photos: the engine cowls which were originally pale blue are now white.
27 ZANL188: There was a lot paint prep work visible on that photo, I suspect the cowls will be back to pale blue shortly.
28 Stitch: The rudder is back on as of this morning. I thought I saw her registration number (28000) was also back on the tail, but I only could get a brief glim
29 Stitch: Looks like 28000 is now in the paint-shop. Where she was yesterday is now occupied by AF's latest 773ER in full colors and I didn't see her anywhere e
30 Psyops: And now (last night) back across to assembly where it has the engine cowls open and a new engine sitting nearby. Looks like a swap? Wonder what the s
31 Stitch: Don't know. When I drove by Friday morning, she was still out on the flight-line. I did notice one of EK's 773ERs was towed back to the assembly buil
32 Post contains images Stitch: So did 28000 sneak out under cover of darkness, or is the MSN003 A388 paint team handling this job? It's been almost a week since she was last seen an
33 Post contains images LimoJet: Hey Guys, Does anyone have an update on SAM 28000? Was it in for maintenance, updating, and is it returning to service? Limojet
34 Venus6971: It is probably having its 5 year C/D check, Wichita has had the contract since before the 89th had 707's, before that E systems in Greenville Texas,
35 Post contains links Stitch: Well looks like she left PAE sometime in the past few weeks, as she is scheduled to show up in Rome shortly... Air Force One In FCO Tomorrow! (by Wing
36 Stitch: Well she finally left PAE on July 28th, almost two full months after arriving on May 1st. Looked powerfully sharp based on Matt Cawby's pics.
37 WestWing: Bumping an old thread. The topic is the same, with SAM 29000 now instead of 28000. Matt Cawby's site has the photos. It is similar to what was done tw
38 Stitch: With 747-400 production now effectively complete, Boeing doesn't need the paint hanger so she can park in there for her full refit/repaint for months
39 A10WARTHOG: Any paint hangar can paint any widebody Boeing jet. There is not one only used for 747, 777, of 767[Edited 2009-04-13 16:40:01]
40 Post contains images Mattcawby: Actually, the painters do the painting, not the hangar.
41 Stitch: Boeing has three paint buildings: one sized for 747s, one for 767s and one for 777s. The 767 building was overhauled a few years back - I am guessing
42 A10WARTHOG: Any of the models will fit into any of the paint hangars. Sometimes planes are not pull or pushed all the way into the hangar for other work being do
43 Stitch: Without having actual floor area measurements, I'll take your word for it, but having walked the paint facilities at PAE back when I worked for Boein
44 WestWing: Has 29000 left KPAE? The news copy of today's incident of a VC-25A posing above the Statue of Liberty says it was the "backup AF-1" (groan). If 29000
45 Stitch: 28000 was at PAE for two months, so if 29000 left after two weeks, she didn't have much work performed on her. The paint job alone I am told can take
