Is anyone going to the Wings over Wayne airshow at Seymour-Johnson AFB this Saturday? It is to my understanding its going to be an outstanding show, celebrating the AF 60th birthday, and the Blue Angels are expected to return to thier show here as well. They have alot of things planned for the show, being its only one day. For more info, the shows website is www.wingsoverwayneairshow.com

Stop by the chicken pita booth, I'll be there starting at 12. I plan to walk around before I start so I'll try to take a lot of pics. Hopefully the weather will clear up and it will be a good show. There was a three day show this past weekend at NAS/MCAS (not sure which) Cherry Point (about an hour from Shady J), but from what I hear it wasn't that great due to the weather being overcast and rainy.

They did 'truck' in the F-35 today. Bigger than I thought, about the size of the F-15. The main fuselage came on one truck, they craned it off and put a jack under the nose. They installed the nose gear, then the wings and stabs came on another truck. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that this one will never fly.

We fly again tomorrow, then we shut down so planes can start arriving on Thursday. I'll try to keep everyone updated as to what we have on the ramp and try to post pics as soon as I can.

Sweet! Is there any particular booth you'll be in, sometimes they have multiples of the same thing. My wife and I are coming up for the show. Looks like its going to be a good one. Judging on whats going to be here this year, its going to be better than Andrews JSOH which is next weekend (which we also plan on going to, but we are still unsure now, since not a whole lot is going on this year)(thats new so to say). Yeah, the F-35 you are talking about is the Mock up jet that they show off to people. I'm still trying to figure out where the C-17 and C-5 are coming from. Still early in the week though. Weather looks okay. chance of T-storms in the afternoon, but it looks like this stubborn low will move a bit more to the south to clear things up for us. It'll be humid, so keep hydrated!

I don't know what the sign will say, but I'm with the 4th AMXS, 336th AMU. Look for us wearing yellow 336th FS tee shirts. If you find us ask for TSgt Griggs.

Blue Angle #7 showed up today for a bit of practice, but that's it so far. We got busy this afternoon moving our jets around to clear up the ramp so more should be here tomorrow.

What's weird about this air show is that its so early, normally we don't have ours until sometime in November. Seems like we just did it. Oh, wait, we did. Gotta love Shady J.

I found out that 7037 from Westover was heading down for the C-5 Static Display. My buddy in Germany said it was on the Ramstein ramp with a Red tail stripe, which makes it the second westover B-model with a tail stripe. I'll be sure to get plenty of pics of it. I worked on 37 alot while it was a Dover bird. In 2005, it was the AMC rodeo bird for Dover, and we had that jet SWEET running and looking!

Do you know if they are having a C-17 static display? I know they are having the demo, but the website doesn't say anything about a static display.

I've only seen one SJ 135. I think it was 62-3577. It came in as the first plane to fly over 4059s wreckage after the runway was re-opened.

Itd be cool to see a 17 from Travis, but I'm sure it'll come from Charleston.

7037 arrived this morning and I got to do a little show and tell. These fighter guys couldn't believe how much room there is to work. One said he now sees why I say I miss them so much.

It would be cool to see a C-17 again but there isn't one on the parking plan. There's barely enough room for the Fred, KC-10, B-52, and our statics.

The 135s from here are reserves, so I don't know much about them.

On a side note, I found out today that our AMU will be selling gyros and that my shift runs 0930-1300 if you want to try to stop by and find me.

I arrived in Goldsboro today around 4. We drove on base, and saw the crapload of tents and planes. I saw 7037 behind the firehouse, and the B-52 on the other side of the ramp. I see 84-0192 came down from McGuire as the KC-10 display. We saw the BAs practicing upon arrival of Goldsboro. I'm excited, can't wait till tomorrow!

What a great air show. So much stuff packed into one day, and the weather held off for everything to fly! Boy did that sun beat down on us during the afternoon though. It was funny how so many people were crammed under planes trying to escape the sun! I hung around 7037 most of the show, and was by the state police chopper the other half the show. We were one of the first people in, but we forgot our chairs. So I went to get the chairs, and all the good spots were taken up. It was CROWDED! That was alot of people! The F-22 demo was awesome, and the Tora Tora Tora was another highlight of the show. It was nice to see the blues perform as well. Fat Albert is always a favorite with the JATO. The sound that B-25 made was like music to me, simply awesome!
