Whilst Charles Lindbergh was a reserve member of the U.S. Army Air Corps, he received his Medal of Honor as a civilian pilot. ...Well he was airborne at this time during the 20th to 21st May exactly 80 years ago when he made his very famous non-stop flight from New York to Paris. ...Lindbergh had departed Roosevelt Field on Long Island and flew his Ryan monoplane "Spirit of St. Louis" alone and without an autopilot for 33hrs. 30mins. to reach his planned destination of Le Bourget, Paris. Amongst the many difficulties he overcame, not the least was having no forward facing windows in his aircraft. ...He used a periscope to see forwards!!

Time has not been kind to the Spirit. The front makes it look like the Spirit of St. Schmutz. Time to take her down and re-restore her.
