I live in Frankfort, IL which is just north and east of Chicagoland Speedway. I was driving up to the mall at Orland Park, IL and noticed two fighter jets flying in some sort of holding pattern waiting for the national anthem at the Nascar race. It was around 2:52pm Central Standard Time. I was assuming the race began around 3pm so the National Anthem would have been around then. It looked like they were just circling around Frankfort and Mokena, IL but I couldn't tell what type of aircraft they were. I was also wondering where they were dispatched from? Possibly Naval Station at Glenview?

Of course the one time someone asks the broadcasters don't say where the F-18's came from!!! I will see if I can find something out.

The F18s are based at GYY for the weekend. They came in Friday afternoon.
