Does anyone (perhaps our Ukrainian friends) have any information on the current status of the proposed Antonov An-124-300? The last I heard on Antonov's website was a news flash from last year saying that the plan was to begin building after the An-124-150M program was in full swing. The An-124-300 is supposed to have a wing stretch to 80 meters and a fuselage stretch as well, to about 74 meters, with a payload of 150+ tons to 8000+ km. Also, it was planned to have "western engines" in the 75K thrust range (GP-7700, Trent 900-and possibly now, Trent XWB) The time is certainly ripe for such an aircraft now, with numerous advantages over both the 747-8F and the A380F.
Considering the first link, my guess is that restart of new-build operation would be on hold as long as existing airframes remain available from the Russian Air Force for remanufacturing.
