Quote: The Russian government is developing a fifth-generation combat aircraft in conjunction with an aeronautics group from India.
Russian air force commander Col. Gen. Alexander Zelin said Wednesday that Russia's United Aircraft Corporation was working in conjunction with India's Hindustan Aeronautics Limited to develop the advanced multirole fighter, RIA Novosti reported.
"At present, we have prepared detailed work design documentation for the fifth-generation aircraft," Zelin said. "The documentation has been passed to the manufacturer and it has begun the construction of the prototype."
The new aircraft will be constructed in eastern Russia, with flight tests expected to begin in 2009 and mass production scheduled for 2015.
RIA Novosti said the aircraft's advanced technology would allow it be highly maneuverable during flight, while increasing the vehicle's stealth abilities and overall weapons accuracy.

Lol, I'll bet the Indians are being careful considering how the Russians are screwing them over on the carrier refit.
If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the outcome of a hundred battles.

I beleive the Russians will develop an aircraft, although starting from scratch and to have it flying by 2009 I think is a little over confident.
