It appears that The Avro Vulcan thats done one test flight is due for a couple more next week as the TVOC has got enough £ to do some more test flights.
For a while it looked like the Vulcan Project mite grind to a complete halt but the good people of the UK have dug deep into there pockets and ensured that the Big Delta gets a chance to WOW the Airshow crouds this year.

Good news, but with the two instances, within two years, of the project grinding to a halt for lack of funds, makes me question if it is really a viable concept even in the near term.
They have themselves admitted that they need a corporate sponsor, I hope it was a typo when I read it needs £10,000 per month to keep running, because that is never going to be achieved by donations alone.
Elsewhere, there is a petition for government support, I won't sign it since if this did happen, it would at least in part, come from the Ministry Of Defence, since I cannot see the Dept of Culture, Media and Sport, wanting to fund it to anything like that extent.
So can we justify, however much we love the Vulcan, the MoD paying anything when the armed forces are so heavily deployed in action, others would object to DCMS depriving grass roots sports and arts projects too.
There has already been a National Lottery donation, but that was to help get it in the air.
So really, we have to hope that a company or companies agree to sponsor it, let's just hope this is not prevented by any economic downturn.

At the momment the biggest leak in the wallet of the Vulcan is hangar fees.
Once the Vulcan leaves the nest and finds a new home the Leak will be mainly plugged i herd the Hangar fees had a few 000s on the end of a £1.

Thanks for that link, BlackProjects!! That was so thrilling to watch!
The Vulcan made an occasional visit to Lajes, Azores, during the 4 years I was stationed there in the 1970's. It was the most exciting plane to transit there of all. Whenever it was in, we made sure to be at the top of the hill by the control tower whenever it took off. The sound of the engines on takeoff was amazing, and as it climbed out in the distance it would almost disappear due to the slim profile as seen from the rear, but then when he dropped a wing and did a sharp turn, the entire delta suddenly appeared and we watched it do its thing during that climbing turn.
What an incredible view that was!! I am so glad that I've gotten to see the Vulcan fly in person!

Yes, her display at airshows this season was always dependent on whether or not the Vulcanw as granted her Display Permit, and now that this has been given, she's clear for the major airshows this season, Waddo, RIAT, Farny, etc...

It's think it's the largest military show in the world but I'd bet that Oshkosh still edges it out thanks to sheer numbers of performers and aircraft. It would've been lovely for the Vulcan to make its first American appearance at Oshkosh next week...sigh...

A Vulcan in America would be maddness think what Concorde used to do at Oshkosh arrive and fly over head and people looked up wondering where the Jet Fighter squadron was and only seeing a Passenger jet albeit a strange shaped passenger jet.
I know as i herd such many years ago at Oshkosh from some Adults till a teenager Piped up and informed them exactly what it was.

Well, I went to an airshow for the first time in 14 years, Farnborough.
And it seems to have shrunk in size in the intervening years. Certainly the static park.
But, the Vulcan was there.
It was a great sight, even while still motionless on the tarmac.
The display was great to see too.
But - unless my memory is failing, the actual Vulcan display, like the show itself, was less than it used to be.
A lot less power involved, for sure.
This is of course, entirely due to life limitations on many components, which will limit prospects for overseas displays.
It has been a great achievement to get it back in the air, but it is worth remembering just why the RAF retired it as a display aircraft in 1993, (9 years after the type left actual RAF service).
These limitations, not just the cost of running it.
What else was I impressed with?
A380, so large but so agile in display and so quiet.
Typhoon was great, the Super-Hornet impressed too.
The BA609, odd and quirky, that re-calls the Harrier.
