From Lenny Siegel, forwarded by request:
The Navy's public meeting on its proposal to "skin" Moffett Field's
Hangar One will be 7:00 pm this Tuesday, August 26 at American Legion
Post 564, 2120 Walsh Ave., Santa Clara.
As I wrote the other day, "Getting people to that meeting, demanding
that Hangar One be restored, is the most important thing that we can do
at this point" to save the giant landmark.
Let me explain:
Were it not for the intense public outcry, including the hundreds of
people who showed up at a Navy meeting in May 2006, Hangar One's beams
and siding would be sitting in a landfill somewhere. WE DID SAVE THE HANGAR!
To restore the hangar and ensure that it is used in a way that benefits
the community and country, more pressure is needed. The Navy, NASA, our
elected officials, potential donors, and potential users of a restored
hangar are all paying attention. WE MUST LET THEM KNOW THAT A DENUDED
FRAME IS NOT ENOUGH.
