I got my licence back this morning, with three penalty points handwritten on to its otherwise pristine endorsement box.
Yes I took the fixed penalty option for a speed camera incident. And yes, like a fool I paid using Mastercard.
I've just checked my online statement and it's clearly marked "Manchester Magistrates Court". So I also get to look a complete arse when I pay my credit card bill, with the teller staring at me wondering what I did to get a fine.

Do those points last for 4 years these days? Last time I got 3 points for speeding, they lasted for 3 years. Nice and clean again now tho.

three years, but you have to wait for 4 to have them removed.

that's the point. It doesn't say anything on the statement about what it was for. It could be for anything nefarious as it doesn't say 'ticket office'.
TBH I'm more pissed off at getting the points on my clean licence than anything else. I once got 7 for something naughty and suffered because of that.

Why? Are they that bored / sad they read people's credit card statements now? And don't you just hand over the counterfoil?

They still last 3 years. I've still got 16 months before my 6 points get removed from my license.

I've still got 3 points on mine from 1998.
As I don't have a UK address anymore I can't get it reissued to remove them, and I'm not about to surrender it, it has proved useful in confusing small-town cops inthe past!

Tsk, tsk. Points on your licence, how wicked!! Be a good driver like me and hide on the IOM where we only have 2 speed cameras, which are hand-held and random. And you can see them a mile off!

Only because theres ony one road on the IOM and its straighter then a ruler!
