Damnit. Well, it happened. My girlfriend, after 2 years, broke up today. Things just started getting shitty over the past few months because we are both stressed between work and school. I dont know if it will be for good though, since we both kind of agreed it was best and that we would keep an open mind about it. So my question is to you guys, whats the best way to get over this? I think I am heading in the right direction because i have plans tonight with a friend of mine and her and i are going to downtown to dinner and possibly a movie. Also, i plan to be hangin with the guys this weekend. So am I doing the right things to move on? I hope so cause I feel like shit right now...

PS for those of you wondering why I came here for help...I wont lie. I feel comfortable with everyone on here because we obviously all share the same avaition hobby, and everyone i know in person who likes aviation, i get along well with. So, yeah, I do trust you guys even though I have never met you all. Anyway, Im off to the shower and then to Black Angus.

Go enjoy urself with the guys.......you're young, have no reason to tie yourself down and you should enjoy yourself to the fullest. Each second passed is a second wasted, so enjoy all that you can. 1 Girl isn't going to kill you, there's plenty more out there and seeing as you both agree to see how things go, just enjoy yourself.

All you can really do is go on with your life. As many have said before, this is one of those things that only time can heal. My best advice is to step back and take a look at your life. From what I've read you are a young guy in school (college?). The opportunities are endless for you right now. Yes you have lost the security of a relationship, but know that there will be other chances with different women. I think it is a good idea now that you are broken up to date other women, different kinds of women, a date doesn't have to turn into anything serious. Find out what you really like in a woman. It will only make you happier in the long term to do this. Sorry for your loss, but it sounds like you are on the right track. Hang in there buddy...

Sorry to be the one saying something different, but if you are able to truly enjoy yourself with your buddies or intend to take to bed another woman on the same day you broke up with your girlfriend she surely did not mean that much to you.

If that is the case, you are already over her.

If that is not the case, doing any of the above will not bring any closure. I would say spend sometime on your own and think about what happened and how you truly feel about it, without the "anesthetics" (drugs, booze, other women). If you think that it was worth breaking up, than you can really move on. If not, start thinking on a plan to win her back.

My ex-fiance, after I dumped her, became a slut to try to make me jealous...worked the other way, made me realize how trashy and nasty she had become and helped me get over her. I mean, I'm not saying "hope she becomes a slut to try to make you jealous"...but it worked for me!

Thank you all for taking the time to reply to me. It seems like I am on the right track. It's extremely difficult, but I figure if I can find things to do to occupy myself for the entire day or night or what not, I will not think about it all that much.
