Beings as I'm 16 now, I sometimes wonder when I'm older, what I'll think of when I look back to my high school and college years. So, then, what do you older A.net members (and younger too, lol) think of when you look back to those days? I credit this thread to the fact that I am listening to a bunch of John Mellencamp songs, hahaha.

I had the best time of my life between 19 and oh..21 I think.

I tend to spend a lot (too much) of time wishing I'd done things somewhat differently, ie, listened to my parents regarding education, priorities, etc.
I find myself thinking of girlfriends from back then, wondering what became of them, other friends and how their lives turned out. I've lost track of them having moved across the country over the years.

And then I think about a night at a party at my apartment with the young woman that everbody in the office was after..and messing up a perfect opportunity..

I spent WAY too much time in my teenage years in a long term relationship, (was at least 4 weeks).

Remember, they are still formative years so experience as much as you can while you still have the benefit of limited responsibility. It was a great time.

Just remember, it's also an easy time to be selfish though, as you only have number 1 to think about. Look after and respect Mum and Dad because it's bloody hard having teenagers around the place.

I do not want to relive or rethink those years. Although my 'teens' got better once I came to college, being in high school sucked ass; mainly because I did not have a car and I went to an IB school and I lived far away from most of my classmates. I spent most of my days at home doing homework or at MIA (on the weekends) watching planes and stuff. I also joined DeMolay (www.demolay.org). Good times, if I knew then I what I know now I would have probably had better times.

I had more fun when I was 19 than any year I can think of. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Quoting BMIFlyer (Reply 2):
I had the most fun when I was about 19 as well, kinda wierd that

Quoting Sunshine79 (Reply 6):
This has gotta be spooky, but I had the best time of my life when I was 19 too

Quoting Clrd2go (Reply 8):
I had the best time of my life between 19 and oh..21 I think.

WTF? Whats wrong with y'all!

I had fun during my teenage years, but that was a long time ago. Do I have anything that I regret from my past? Not really, what I did back then made me the person I am now, and I certainly enjoy life more now than before.

My current teens years (I'm 19) in Canada consist of:
-Binge drinking at the end of the week, often to wash away the woe's of university
-going to bars. Dancing has taken the place of regular exercise.
-flight training. The one normal thing I can bring up in mature and intelectual conversation.
-a lot of socializing. And I thought high school was bad for it...
-the beach. Ties in with the drinking and partying part.
-music. If it isn't Country, classical or death metal, I'm there.
-sleeping. An essentail tool in a students resume.
-SCHOOL. The only thing that I really care to brag about. It's going to get me somewhere!
Take 'er gently

So, then, what do you older A.net members (and younger too, lol) think of when you look back to those days?

When I usually think of those times, my thoughts range from: long drives in my own car just for the heck of it (gas were actually falling during my high school & college years - early-to-mid '80s) and not because I had to commute somewhere, the week-long bike trip I took through New Brunswick & Prince Edward Island, my years of running track & cross-country. The only major worries I had were just exams, and dealing w/bullies. Being on the small side (and coming from only a middle-class family as opposed to an upper-middle class family), I was the target of some bullies back in a day... more so during my junior high years but some of it still existed at high school (mostly, people snobbishly ignored me in high school). Nonetheless, those worries can pale in comparison with what adults worry about (job, bills, family, etc.).

The thing I am now think more about was having a lot more energy back then. Although I presently try to keep active & in shape; at 40, one can't get away with physically as much as one can in their teens or even 20s.

Ideally, and most would be in agreement here, I would like to have the energy & stamina I had back then combined with the knowledge & wisdom I have now. While I don't believe I made any disastrous decisions (that would have a lasting impact on my life) back then; in retrospect, I probably made some decisions then that I would not do today if faced with a similar situation.

The only thing that I would change is that in high school, I should have had more "fun". I was too caught up in geting good grades for college. I only dated 3 girls during my high school years. I also turned down one hot girl because she was my friends ex., what was I thinking. Now that I'm in college it's hard to have some serious relationships. I should have gone to college some place cold and in the middle of no where to see if the urban legend is true.
