SIDNEY, N.Y. - Authorities Wednesday ordered the mandatory evacuation of 150,000 to 200,000 people from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and surrounding areas along the Susquehanna River, a Luzerne County official said.

It has rained for the past 5-6 days, here in CEF. but its finally over. Its supposed to be sunny and the 80's til atleast next tuesday.

Here in BOS it's been cloudy and on-and-off rain all except yesterday for the last week or so. Today and tomorrow, heavy rains are forecast, with no sun until Saturday.

Not so bad, considering elsewhere and the North Shore of Boston back in May.

The flooding in NE Pennsylvania sounds like the worst I can recall occured around 1970. I recalled it washed away parts of I-81, killed a number of people and did some serious damage.
I live in Northern New Jersey and am familiar with bad floods covering over parts of towns, closing off major roads, washing out bridges. With all this heavy rain in the region, there should also be inspections of almost all roads, bridges done ASAP to look for flood and water flow damage.

Yeah, we get some flooding. The Susquehanna is notable for it, as is the Delaware. We just had some rain and wind (Central NJ).The sump pump didn't even turn on.

I live about twenty minutes south of Wilkes-Barre and it is bad. Two out of three ways out of my town are closed down due to flooding.
