Just seemed like an interesting thing to know. What was the most physical pain you've ever been in?

For me: After undergoing an operation, I was put on some prescription pain killers which contain narcotics. The narcotics, well....they keep you from having bowel movements. The constipation got the better of me at 2AM about 5 days after the operation (I hadn't had a real bowel movement 4 or 5 days and for some reason I didn't notice it), and I was in the most excruciating pain of my life. I ended up vomiting from the pain alone and almost passed out. The best way I can describe the feeling is a pack of rabid dogs eating away at your stomach, and it wasn't until my mom realized what was wrong and gave me some milk of magnesia that I could finally get my GI Tract clear. Luckily she remembered that the nurse at the clinic said the painkillers could cause constipation. It was probably a great site to see. An atheist on a toilet grasping his ankles crying out to any number of potential dieties asking for some mercy (well...I was probably getting to that point, anyway ) In the end, good old "mum" saved the day, or else it probably would have gone on until the morning till I could call the clinic. Thinking back, I probably would have killed myself before then.

I was boogie boarding in Virginia Beach and I got on a wave too early. Consequently the board and myself fell over the top of the wave. The board went straight down into the sand and and it speared my stomach. That hurt.

Lets see...I had a puck (hockey) destroy the upper half of my knee cap...but I don't really remember any pain from that. Shock is a wonderful thing...but the arthritis already sunk in at 22 sucks. The most pain I've ever been in...probably the time I went through the glass with another player. We both had concussions,  fight  and when he tried to get up we found his skate was stuck in my forearm....Ow...  ouch

I ran through a sliding glass door.
That hurt.
I have 700+ stitches all over my body.
But after I was in the ambulance I lost consciousness so i couldn't feel it anymore.

Recurrent Kidney Stones. I've had six such attacks in the last 10 years. I have passed out from the pain three times. The pain is in your lower back, and feels as if there is a small man in there trying to carve his way out with a knife.

A few different things for me...

1) A groin muscle pull...can't walk, can't sit, can't use the head
2) 12Lb. shotput to the back of the head and the subsequent concussion (explains a lot about me)
3) Missing a dive from a 12 foot diving board and landing on my back.

Why have you had that many kidney stone attacks in 10 years?
People in my family have had it and I know that the pain is bad.
They get it because they don't drink enough water you're supposed to drink 2 liters a day do you do that?

Pure potassium being injected directly into my arm. I was in the hospital on an IV, and the nurse forgot to mix the bag. I woke up thinking that my arm was on fire. I can only describe it as someone lighting the blood in my veins, and feeling the burning move up my arm as the blood flowed. I ripped the IV out before the nurse could get there, and immediately the pain started to subside.

My cousin did this on holiday in Spain in '99.

We came home about 2 minutes after it happened and the whole apartment was covered in blood as he had been running around in panic. My aunt nearly passed out when she saw the state of him. Blood pouring out of every part of his body, including his face. He looked a mess! We rushed him to hospital where they started to stitch him up. I still remember the screams as each stitch went it (around 75-100 IIRC).

For myself, the worst pain I've been in by far was when I had my arm ripped out of its socket. I was playing rugby and got caught in a bad tackle which resulted in my arm being 'pulled out'. It ripped all the tendons that hold your arm in place, so I physically had to hold it in its socket. I can't really describe the pain, it was just too much. I was out of action for the best part of 8 months and needed over 6 months of physiotherapy. It still hurts now and again, and it happened in '97!

The second most pain I've been in was having a sex check done in my final year of university. I'd had a rather entertaining first 2 years and thought it was probably best to have a check up. Well, boy do I regret that!!

The worst test by far is the Clamydia test. The nurse grabbed my penis with one hand and a large cotton bud with the other, proceeded to tell me this may hurt, and then stuck the bud down my tube. My god, the pain was unbarable!!!

Once it was over, I thought it was 'all over'. But no, she then asked for a urine sample, which I proceeded to give, but as soon as I started to urinate, all that pain came rushing back!! Excrutiatingly painful! As this was going on, I heard a very loud scream coming from the booth next door...  Wink

Duodenal Ulcer. That was very painful. Very sharp and very localised. With the medicine prescribed by the doctor it stopped as suddenly as a light being turned off. A strange sensation.

Worst pain for me is either my ear problem which casued me to go deaf for a week, get so painfull even after seeing a doc who said it was nothing bad, that my mum had to take me to A&E to be told it was bad, and if left could of caused so BIG problems.

Then there is the appendix, and my tooth. Thats the latest thing. Got woken at 3am on Friday with a VERY sore tooth and headache that would not shift. Was so bad i was dizzy and could not walk straight. Gone now, just need to see a dentist, but this is the uk so will see one in about 5 months

Fell over on the patio in the rain and banged the side of my chest on a metal chair- Two Fractured ribs - Very painful.

Dentist filled a root canal in a moler and I developed sering pain in the tooth, caming in waves making me cry out - turns out the filling was pushing on a nerve left intact deep inside the tooth.

Hmm... worst pain must have been when a dentist accidentally drilled on a nerve (without any anesthetization). I was so stunned, I could not even move or scream, just started to twitch a bit. I still remember the dentist telling me to relax, and then saying "Hmm... what is that thing here, actually?"

My whole head felt like a single piece of pure pain. But it's like they say - feels so good when the pain is fading...  Yeah sure

Burst appendix and resulting infection! And then 10 days NIL by mouth, includes you own spit!

That first sip of water on day 11 rates right up there as a most blissful experience!

BTW about 20 years later I had kidney stones, very painful, but not in the same league. While being diagnosed for the stones this ditizy nurse asked me to rate the intensity of the pain on a scale of 1(painfree) to 10(childbirth)! I blame the pain for calling her an idot and telling her I wouldn't know as I had a dick, not a pussy!

Falling from a moving car at 30 MPH (50 KM/H). Either that or getting a pellet from a 12 guage shotgun in the leg. Both were experiences I'd choose not to go through again...

No, but some of my youthful adventures make me believe I was the insperation for the show.

At 13 or 14, a few friends and I found an OLD baby carriage (the kind with big tires, and "spring suspension". Well, we decided it's be fun to climb in and ride it down a hill. Was a heck of a lot of fun until I hit a small rock. Carriage stopped on a dime, but I needed about $2. Picture Superman doing a "gear up" landing, and you'll get the picture.

A salmonella infection. I was in a hospital bed for 7 days, with stomach cramps that even morphine couldn't take. The doctors thought it was my appendix and did an emergency surgery... their comment? "well, it wasn't your appendix, but you have a severe infection in your body- if your fever rises to over 41 degrees celsius (105.8 fahrenheit), we'll do another op and find the infection"  grumpy

Welll, at about 41 degrees celsius, I'd be friggin dead  rotfl

A couple of months back I had Food Poisoning or Gastro Interitis, Vomiting was painful, the diorreah was painful. My whole skeleton was in pain at one point. It was the most uncomfortable experience I've ever had.

I also once, by mistake, took too many paracetamol and codine tablets. The stomoch pains were excruciating. These days I usually ask how many hours I've been asleep for instead of assuming it was 25 hours.

checkmark  Took me a while to find a doctor that got me on the right medicine and diet, but now I don't have to worry much about them. Been through about 15 of them that caused me grief, about 4 of them major and 1 required hospitilization for a couple of days, ended up being a little over 1/4". Mine are uric acid stones (I have gout which is also quite painful if uncontrolled), so they're rough and irregular in shape and grind quite a bit as they're on their way down.

Definitely a character-building experience.

I thought I had found the ultimate level for pain when I fell off a ladder and landed on the edge of a concrete slab shattering my heel. Then a week later I woke up from surgery to install a plate and 8 screws and realized that it could be much, much worse. The morphine cut the pain just enough to keep me from actually trying to kill myself.

To make it worse, there were two 65-70 year old women in the rooms next to mine who had hip replacements the same morning. They were up and walking the next morning and I really, really wanted to kill them. Not nice I know, but pain tends to make you mean.

I had the worst pain ever when I got bitten by a spider. Me and a friend were at Lake Tahoe, we slept in the house of his cousin and opened all windows in our room before we went to bed, that was probably a mistake. At around 7am I woke up with horrible pain in my thigh, at first I thought that someone is stub out a cigarette on my leg but then I realized that some insect has bitten me, the pain got worse from second to second. Meanwhile my friend woke up as well, I told him what happened and a minute or so later he saw the huge spider, both of us took simultaneously an empty beer can and trew it on the spider.

The pain lasted for approx. 24 hours, that was some experience I wish nobody.

I once, on a Saturday night, had an inflammation of the root channels of two teeth plus a part of my lower jaw-bone. All at once, and I can tell you: that hurts. I was never more happy to live in a big city with good medical services.

Not really, these spiders have some poison which irritates your muscles, unfortunately I got bitten in my thigh where a lot of muscles are, it had not been so worse when it had bitten me in my hand for example.

Worst pain ive ever had? Easy. First year of uni - my Mrs thought i was cheating on her. Her mate (absolute spitting image of Davina McCall) came running up to me in Candy Store in Plymouth during Lisa Pin Up's set. I was looking the other way. Didnt see her stop, then take a run up Jonny Wilkinson style and convert a kick into my unprotected gonads.

The impact knocks the wind out of you. I reeled back, then the pain hit. I went down like the proverbial sack of s*it, and immediately began throwing up, doubled up on the floor. Few seconds later three doormen arive. Two try to pick me up, but the third had seen what happened and stopped them. Imagine someone crushing your balls in a vice. The sickening, plunging pain that shivers all the way up your spine, and lights a fire in your intestines. Awful. Eventually I was taken out on a stretcher - someone called the ambulance after i pulled my hands from out of my groin and people saw the blood on my hands.

Two days in hospital - one ruptured urinary tract, severe bruising to both balls, massive swelling that didnt subside for a week, and inability to walk straight for at least that long. Felt like peeing razor blades for a week or so. Antibiotics. Couldnt have sex for a month.

And i DIDNT cheat on her.

Actually when I was 14 I had Spinal Menigitis. The bad kind too (Bacterial) I was so bad I couldn't walk when my mom finally took me to the emergency room. The worst pain I ever suffered from was when some jackass quack doctor decided to carry out a surgery on my horribly ingrown toenail without any anesthesia. I almost went straight through the roof when he took out the nail and all the cankerous tissue. I later asked him why he didn´t use any anesthetic and he answered: "Well, you didn´t ask for it so I chose the cheaper variant". Needless to say that I never went there again.

I had to get 3 teeth pulled when I was about 12. Apparently the doctor did numb me but I guess it didn't work. My teeth were still in there pretty good. The doctor couldn't see it because I had some sunglass type things on, but I was nearly crying because of the pain. 2 teeth hurt the worst the 3rd one was easy because it was about to fall out anyway.

When I was about 10 I had to have eye surgery. It was outpatient but still hurt like hell. My eyes were so bloodshot that day I looked like a zombie. Hot towels similar to what the airlines have is what kept me from major headaches and excruciating pain.

i've had major shoulder surgery, wisdom teeth pulled, and hundreds of stitches, but the most physical pain i've felt is when i'm woken up in the middle of the night with one of those INTENSE calf cramps!

HOLY SHIT do those hurt!!!! ....and there's no doctor around to administer any pain medicine. excruciating pain, fall out of bed grabbing calf, try to tighten muscle to relieve pain, use knuckles to try to rub the cramp out.. all at 4am.

then...limp around the rest of the day hoping it doesnt happen again.

One of a couple of things. Either the extreme swings in joint and body pain due to a week long bout with West Nile or being in the hallway of my high school about 10 or so years ago as a Freshman and having a Junior linebacker decide it would be fun to run full speed at me from behind and run his shoulder into my spine. The impact caused my body to go flying and my head impacted the concrete steps. A couple of minutes later I saw one of my friends involved in a fist fight with him in the middle of the hallway, but have no idea what happened in the meantime. Or the time when I skidded my bike across a wet road and tore all the skin off my knee. That hurt. And it scared the poop out of me to look down and see my bone...

Probably when i injured my ankle ligament while playing basketball at 16. I altually felt that thing crack.

That was the only time of my life that I really screamed out of pain.

3 years ago when I stepped on a Sting Ray down in Del Mar, CA. Got a 1 deep, 3 inches long gash in my foot, barb from the bugger was stuck as well. Waited too long to put it in hot water so the pain from the venoum or whatever last about 3 days, not to mention I had to put boiling water on it for a day as well to stop the pain. Not fun.......

Why have you had that many kidney stone attacks in 10 years?

One enzyme that occurs naturally is lower in my system than normal. It decreases the kidney's ability to process certain minerals. There is a new medication which may help adjust the enzyme level, but it has many side-effects and is still being tested.

There are three basic ways to deal with a kidney stone:

1. let it pass naturally
2. lithotripsy (vibration waves sent through your body to pulverize the stone)
3. surgical removal

Two doctors have told me that if they use options 2 or 3 that it will actually 'train' my body to produce the stones more often. So, up until this point I have always had to go with option 1.  Sad

I had a testicular cyst (ouch) and I needed an incision in my scrotum and one in my groin area between my abdomen and leg. Bloody painful as hell after that operation. No surprise that it was the testicular area that hurt like crazy, like having your balls crushed inside a nut cracker (haha). A very hot pain which came in huge waves. The relief between them was awesome. Far worse than being kicked full on in the balls (yes someone did that to me at highschool, later.) I had this op when I was 12.

Something else that wasn't terribly good was when I crashed my bike and my upper front teeth penetrated my upper lip. Ecxeptionally painful, but not as bad as the operation pain. Then my lip got infected and it was impossible to talk or eat properly. As a result of the damage my upper lip looks too large even today with the scar tissue.

Of all of the things I've been through, the one that stands out the most is when I severely sprained my right ankle in 1997. I ended up lying on the pavement clutching my leg and screaming for a minute straight. I couldn't stop myself. I had been carrying a kid across the street (the street was full of glass and he was carrying his shoes running barefoot, so I picked him up) and my ankle went on me so completely that I felt the bottom of my shinbone hit the pavers (for those of you who know, that was my lateral malleolus.) So I fell, carrying both my weight and his weight over the left side of my body and therefore twisting my ankle even further.

I can only describe it as someone wrapping my leg tightly from knee to toes and setting it on fire on the lateral aspect.

Even after I was finally back to my senses and able to stand with assistance, I had the strangest pain sensation I ever experienced. The ligaments were torn so badly that I felt like my foot wasn't attached to my leg, yet I had incredible muscle spasms that made everything below my knee twitch and twist periodically.

I was on crutches for nearly a month.

Other than that, the brutal ache after having eight teeth removed in one operation was pretty bad, but that I was able to alleviate with a gram of Tylenol.

My kidney stone attack I should say. I first took a taxi to my designated health station, but hi-ho no equipment there during the night and the doctor suggested an infected appendix. Through my clenched teeth I managed to mutter that people normally have their appendix on the right side, not on the left that was hurting me. "I suppose you are right" said the MD and sent me to the Univ. Hosp. by ambulance. "A nice textbook case of a probable kidney stone" was the diagnosis right away. Soon after I dragged myself to a restroom, and when I returned to my bed, the pain had gone! The blockage had passed through the system! Felt like reborn!

I would without a doubt say the worst pain I have ever felt last Christmas when I smashed my ear in a car door. Ok, so yeah how the hell does that happen? Well listen up cause it could easily happen to you. I had just finished getting gas and was walking back around to my driver door to get in. As I opened it, I noticed this Ford F-150 speeding into the gas station, and it was gonna go right past my car, to the pumps on the other side. So I wanted to get in and close the door quickly as possible. Well, you know how when you open a car, it has those like hinge points where it will stay open at a certain degree? Well when I opened my door, I immediatly proceeded to get in. What I didnt realize though was the door didnt quite make it to the hinge point. And when a door doesnt make it that far, it likes to swing back. So as i was lowering my head into the car, it swung back and smashed my ear/head into the car. Thas was the most terrible, sharp, numbing, mind boggling pain I have ever felt. My entire ear was purple for the next week or so....

My advice, dont let it happen to you.

The second worse pain I have ever felt wass when I was a wrestler in high school. I made the worst mistake any wrestler can make, I locked my elbow to try and position myself while on the ground. Yeah, it bent out the other way. The strange thing is though, it didnt physically hurt as much as one would expect it to. It really only hurt when I looked at it and went into shock.

Somewhere in May this year, probably around the 13th. I have a little Mini-bike. (clown-bike) its about 2 feet tall or less. There is this cement sidewalk that goes down this hill in my neighborhood with a few light banked turns in it down to the bottom. I decided I was going to go down this hill on my clown bike. I go down the first time all goes well and I stop before the sharp turn at the end of the hill. I walk my mini-bike up the hill and go again. I do this about 2 times. Its really cool because since your that low to the ground it makes it look like your going really fast. I come back the next day to show my friend and for him to try it. I go down and I peddle as fast as I can to get max speed. I hit a little tiny rock at the bottom of the hill and I flipped over the handle bars of this bike hit my chin down on the ground and try to break my fall by putting my hands down. my knees then hit and whiplash forced my hands down on to the concrete then I blacked out for a second and then my hands hit the ground and bent both of my hands backwards; all of that while sliding on my knees. Spraned both of my wrists scraped up my chin and cut my knees up so bad they were both bleeding like crazy. I had to walk back to my house which was a block away while trying to scure the bleeding with my shirt.

Since school was still in. had to try to write with spraned wrists. Not easy. they just healed June 15th.

I saw WSOY's answer but it made me wonder which side you have your stones on? Mine have always been on the left side. I've been told that lithotripsy does not work for the type of stones (uric acid) that I have had.

Second runner up - getting a dinger while behind the plate while playing high school baseball. I had to be carried off the field so the game could continue.

First runner up - after surgery years ago where a spinal block was used, they had to pass a catheter to make me piss. Didn't hurt going in, but man, when it was removed, it was like tiny razor blades reaming me out.

Winner - back when I was applying to the service academies, I was told that my history as a nose bleeder would disqualify me. So I went to an ENT, who told me he was going to cauterize the inside of my nose. The first visit was not bad, as he used silver nitrate to create scar tissue. But it didn't take. So on my second visit, he told me he'd have to use what was in effect a soldering iron inside my nose. But that isn't what hurt. The 6 inch Novocaine needle shoved up my septum almost made me pass out.

I also have the kidney stone problem. I have one kidney (left side) that is slightly less formed than the other. So it produces the occasional stone. As the others have said - there is nothing worse. I was almost killed in a car accident in '04 and that was nothing compared to what a kidney stone feels like.

What was the most physical pain you've ever been in?

I'll start with the second worst physical pain:
In March of 2005, I was rearended. Naturally, I suffered whiplash. I've been sore and stiff before, but this is much worse.

The absolute worst:
Iritis. Long story short, it is the inflamation of the iris. My first encounter with it was just before Thanksgiving 2001. By the time I realized something was seriously wrong with my eye, my ophthalmologist was out of town. My only relief until his return was to shut myself in a room without even the slightest bit of light. Even the standby power light from my monitor was too much. I could feel it flash with my eyes closed! Fortunately, when I visited the doctor, he prescribed medication which provided relief after the first application.

I've one more flare up since then, but as I know the symptoms which occur before the full onset, I get to the doctor ASAP. Especially since if not treated immediately, it could lead to blindness.

God, I feel like such a woos...... reading all this stuff......... My little "horrible pains" have been (on second thought, not that bad really) in order: Ripped my hamstring..... (called the orthopod from the street..... "What should I do?!!!!!" "Can you see your hamstring around your knee?", "NO"..... "Good. Flag down a cab. Sleep on ice, and come in in the morning") Hurt like hell for 4 or 5 days..... hurt like , well, a ripped hamstring hell for about 6 months..... then, jumped over a chair in my loft that I had been vaulting over for 10 years..... missed..... dislocated my thumb (I know, poor me)...... having it put back however (sorry Doc.... read my lips, "No medical insurance", "Not to worry little lady, we'll 'reset' it").......... pretty painful.

The only competition I have for any of your stories, really , as far as pain goes (for me childbirth doesn't count..... I suffered for 25 mins give or take) was last year the chain broke on my bike...... landed on my chin....... for three months I lived on milk, sushi, and Coors Light and aspirin became food groups (luckily I also had a concussion for about three months, so a lot of it is now funny and kind of hazy)......and other exotic pain killers (big, white, hard to open my mouth enough to take them)....... The kicker is, next week I finally go in to start replacing the 12 teeth I knocked into the next county......

I figure that's gonna be REALLY painful. Wish me luck.

I don't remember too much of my first break. I was six years old, it was around Christmas-time, so I had a lot of energy to burn. Jumped off the couch, slipped on the hardwood floor, landing on my right arm. I basically broke every bone from my hand to my elbow, luckily no compound fractures. But, I can still remember looking down on at my arm and seeing the mangled wreck it had become and screaming my head off. Pain level: don't remember

Tore my esophagus when I was eight (apparently from vomiting too hard while I was sick). Apparently, that's supposed to be pretty painful, but I don't remember pain ever coming from that. Pain level: don't remember

When I was fifteen or sixteen, I was playing hockey. I got knocked off my skates as I was heading towards the end boards to retrieve the puck, went into the boards feet first, had a few hairline fractures of the right ankle. Pretty painful, my parents said they could hear me cursing up a storm from the other end of the rink. Pain level: 7

When I was seventeen, I was playing some street hockey. A kid wound up and took a slapshot, too bad the side of my face was in the way of the puck. Got a nice cut that required a few stiches and knocked a lower back tooth out. When I got home skating as quickly as I could with my mouth streaming in blood I could see my mother was more pissed than worried. I got that, "All that money for braces?" look. The dentist said it was a miracle that I didn't lose or damage another tooth and didn't break my jaw. After going to the hospital, the next stop, literally, was the oral surgeon, where not only did I get the reminants of that tooth taken out, but my wisdom teeth as well. Fantastic.
Pain level: 7

A year later, a buddy and I were playing catch on the street with a tennis ball. He throws it too hard and it passes me. I'm running to catch up to it and I plan to pick it up and throw it back to him on the fly... Not gonna happen that day. Pivot to pick up the ball, my right ankle bends inward, flops over, and I hear a few things pop. I'm laying on the ground screaming in pain, but friend is laughing too hard. He finally grabs his mother, a nurse, and they come out to the street... I haden't even moved off the street, I'm in so much pain. His mother takes off my shoe and my ankle was the size of a softball. Off to the hospital. Fractured ankle, but the doc decides not to operate and let it heal on its own. My ankle is still swollen slighty and I cannot run long distances on hard surfaces.
Pain level: 9

The chemistry behind the stone formation is quite complicated and varied, I believe. My physician friend told me that the stones will get caught at the point where the urinary tract passes over some big arteries and veins 5-10 cm before the bladder. So it's a matter of individual metabolism and anatomy, I suppose. Unfortunately it seems that after you've had your second attach, you'll get more in future.

The worst physical pain I've had was last year, when I fell on my knee, which I hurt myself sometime before.

I don't know really what's wrong with me knee, but at least it is something which boys get on my age and up. Something is growing faster than something else, so I feel pain very often...

I do not hurt myself often.

Regards,
David

PS: Well, maybe when the brake-pedals on my bike went into the back of my legs was more hurting than the knee, but I'm too old to remember so much into the previous years.  Silly

I am pretty lucky, not been in severe pain. Only had minor things like dropping the iron on top of my arm while ironing clothes.
My uncle was in Spain a few years back and he slipped on the floor in a superstore and this sharp object whatever it was went right into his chest, came right out on his back, just millimeter from his heart. He was in hospital for weeks and had to be flown back to Norway in a ambulance plane.

It was during practice. We would pair up and throw them over the football goalposts. Unfortunately that day there were only 3 of us so I worked alone throwing mine and going to get it and throw it back over. As I went to get mine one of the other guys' arm slipped as he was throwing and it flew in my direction at a 45 degree angle or so finding the back of my head. I was bending down at the time so it scraped along my head instead of a dead-on hit which the doctors said would have killed me. I lost a ton of blood and was taken to the emergency room but it all turned out fine other than the concussion and a scar on the back of my head where it hit.

Quoting BartiniMan (Reply 76):

Oh no, I most definitely hit the water. I over-rotated on the dive and instead of going into the water somewhat straight my legs got away from me and my back took the brunt of the hit.

Quoting BartiniMan (Reply 76):

No problems. We can laugh about it now since I'm alive and well and seriously...who the Hell has been hit by a shotput? Just my luck! I also got hit by a discus while shagging them one day during practice. Luckily that hit me on a bounce and didn't really hurt. Thank God that Florida high schools didn't have the javelin otherwise I'm sure I would have ended up with the trifecta.

Mine was after an operation I had about 2 months ago too. I had an operation to get rid of some adhesions I had around my bowels. I was fine for the next 2 days because I had morphine  drunk . When they took my morphine away that was when it hurt and I was in so much pain for about an hour until I asked for the morphine back! Worst pain in my life. I gradually came off the morphine, and had some painkillers prescribed for me instead. I'm all better now veryhappy .

For me it would be in order

1) Skill saw ripping up my leg 8" long and missed the bone my a few mm's and 400+ stiches.

2) Deviated Nasal Septum operation..... not even morphine helped with the pain

3) 2 failed back operations, just to chicken to go for the 3rd and have a rod inserted  Sad

4) Lost a finger tip (about 1/4") as it got caught between a load of lumber and a forklift blade...

The worst pain i ever felt, was when I had a Gall Bladder stone lodged somewhere. The pain was unbearable. The second worst pain I've had, was after an operation to determine if the growth I had in my yambag was cancerous. The pain following the operation was as if a train had been parked on my crotch for a week. The pain from a toothache is a close third. Potent painkillers such as morphine, vicodin, hydrocoden, oxycoten have no effect on pain for me. The only luck I have with painkillers is the occasional help from an aspirin on a headache.

I had a lumbago; at least what the only translation tool says. Most of the time I could get up from the sofa myself, but that procedure took some weird moves to avoid pain. However when I couldn't get up by myself and my parents (thank God I was at home when it happened) had to help me, I yelled out of pain.

Then, when I was in the waiting room at the orthopaedist, I was able to get out of the chair just normally without any pain whatsoever. Once I was standing I stopped, looked back at the chair, realised what my back had just accepted without causing me pain and felt totally fooled. The x-ray didn't really show anything besides a slight relieving posture of my spinal column... well, what did count was being without pain again.

It is called a "calice". I looked it up after I saw the movie. Very frightening at least to me.

Yeah, I read the book, but for the life of me I couldn't remember what it was called. Thanks.

Wow, I've looked those up, and it sounds like something really tough. Do you have them often? Are they controllable with medication?

-Manuel

I get them every 18-20 months and am currently taking preventatives (so far so good). When I get them, they last 4-5 months. I get about 1-2 a day. The funny thing, time zone travel exacerbates them. Figures.

I had a brilliant idea one night after coming out of the pub slightly drunk with my girlfriend, i decided it would be great fun to give her a jockey-back, so as i leaned over she jumped on my back, but i then tripped with my hands behind my back. we both fell to the concrete and i hit the ground face first, i fractured my jaw and knocked out two of my front teeth, i still have nightmares about the hangover the next morning and the dentist bill!!!!
