Funny this thread comes up. I'm planning a little early Christmas present for my wife-and won't tell her one thing about it till it unfolds:

We're gonna fly to Chicago the morning of Dec 9th; I've got tickets for the 3pm show by Trans-Siberian Orchestra, then out to dinner somehwere nice (anyone in Chi-Town have any ideas of a nice, but not incredibly expensive place for dinner?), then a "one night stand" at a nice hotel, then home the next day.

I think she'll really enjoy that.

Do something romantic...invite her for a dinner with candles for example...All women wish something like this, even they don´t say it  But be sure, that she has some positive feelings to you, if not, she may feel discomfort by this gesture...If you know her friends, ask them...they know her the best, so can give you good advices..

Seriously though, without knowing anything about her or your relationship, it's hard to know whether we're talking big time or smaller things here. And, as 'westy duly points out, you can't really make someone fall in love. That usually happens on its own, and based on a sense of being listened to and respected. The most romantic things don't usually involve going anywhere special, they just happen naturally when two people dig each other.

That said, take her to swank restaurant, or, alternatively, pack a picnic lunch and eat it in a nice secluded spot (avoid runway approach patterns!).

You cant have someone fall in love with you unless you give them a damn good reason to do so. If you are taking a woman out for dinner, for example, take the opportunity to get to know her, not in a sexual way, but simple communication as to what type of person she is. Dont talk about how great you are, let her find out if she thinks you are great.

Oh, LOL. I had to keep a Valley Girl happy when she was my assistant in the entertainment industry. It taught me a LOT about what makes women happy in that way (not the other way).

Just about any place along Rush street, just north of downtown Chicago. Lots of nice restaurants. Some are pricey and some are cheap but it's a great atmosphere. You have many choices of Italian, Thai, seafood and even steakhouse along that strip. Just take a walk and see which place captures your interest.
When I take my Chicago ladies out for a romantic dinner, it's usually somewhere on Rush street.


For me, it depends on the woman I am with. I do like to cook so inviting her over for dinner is always good and of course dessert is served in the bedroom.
Some like to be whipped and some like doing it outdoors or in public places.

I have to say that in my experience, cooking for a woman usually does the trick.

I recall the winter of 2004, when after a couple of dates with a Canadian University Professor living in England, I invited her to my place and cooked vegetarian lasagna (she was vegetarian).

Lasagna takes time, so a great deal of talking and wine drinking happened while the food was in the oven. After eating, and some more wine, the key was a home made dessert.

Let's just say that the evening was a success, as in I got my card stamped and we ended up seeing eachother for a year or so afterwards. Subsequent girls have reacted similarily.

They say the way to someone's heart is via their stomach. I would say that the way to other parts of them too is via their stomach.

9. Introduce her to your friends as "some chick". Women love those
special nicknames.

10. Play with her hair. Play with it HARD.

11. Warm her up when she's cold...and not by giving her your jacket...then you might get cold. Rather, look her in the eye and say "if you don't stop bitching about the cold right now you're going to be bitching about a black eye." the best way to get warm is with fear.

12. Take her to a party. When you get there shell have to go to the
bathroom (they always do). Leave immediately. Come back right when the party's dying and yell at her the whole way home for ditching you at the party.

13. Make her laugh. A good way to do this is if she has a small pet.
kick the pet. I always find stuff like that funny. Why shouldn't girls?

14. Let her fall asleep in your arms. When she's fast asleep, wait 10 minutes then JUMP UP AND SCREAM IN HER EAR! Repeat until she goes home and you can use your arms for more important things. Like basketball.

15. Spit often. I hear girls like guys that spit.

16. If you care about her never ever tell her. This will only give her
self confidence. Then you can never turn her into the object she deep
down desires to be.

17. Every time you're in her house steal one of the following: shoes,
earrings, or anything else that comes in pairs. Only take one of the
pair. This way she'll go crazy.

18. Take her out to dinner. Right when she's about to order interrupt and
say no she's not hungry. Make her watch you eat. Girls love a guy that

19. Look her in the eyes and smile. Then clock her one. Girls love a

21. When it's raining keep asking her if she's crying. Shell say no it's just the rain ten minutes later turn to her and just scream at her to stop crying you @..%$ baby. Girls like a tough man as I've already stated.

23. If you're listening to music, and she asks to hear it, tell her no. this way she'll think you're mysterious.

24. Remember her birthday but don't get her something. Teach her
material objects aren't important. The only thing that's important is that she keeps you happy. And your happiness is the greatest present she can ever get.

25. When she gives you a present on your birthday, Christmas, or just when ever, take it and tell her you love it. Then next time you know she's coming over on a trash day leave the trash can open and have the present visibly sticking out of the can. Girls actually don't like this one that much but I think it's funny.

26. If she's mad at you for not calling her when you say you will promise her that you will call her at a certain time of the day. This will make sure that she waits by the phone. Tell her when you call you're going to tell her a special surprise. Now she'll be really excited. Now don't call.

Fly her somewhere a long way away just to take her to dinner. I just flew up to Japan (from New Zealand) for the weekend just for the hell of it. The women I've talked to since seem really enamoured with the idea of flying halfway around the world to have dinner and a night out.Sure I practically spent one hour in the plane for every hour I was there, but that's what makes it so cool - the fact that it has spontaneity, adventure and extravagance is an irresistible cocktail. Next time I think I'll fly up to SFO for a nice lunch at fisherman's wharf.

Romance has nothing to do with love, it's the art of creating a charming illusion for just long enough to make the romancee think they're special. Really it's part flirting and part customer service.

I did something little similar few years ago...
I wanted prepare a surprise for birthday to my boyfriend which I dated at this time....So I ´ve bought tickets to Paris, with departure in the morning and coming back the same day evening. I asked his mother for his passport (it was before Czech Republic was in EU, so we needed passports for travelling). Finally I´ve asked his best friend for cooperation. He took him to the airport in the morning on this day, under the pretence of pick up somebody or what (I don´t remember exactly yet). There they went to restaurant, where I was sitting. He knew, that I work at the airport, so didnt suspect anything yet....They took seat beside me. After few moments a waitress came to our table and gave him an envelope (which I gave her before they came). So, he didn´t understand, why a waitress at the airport restaurant is giving him an envelope. But his bestfriend who drove him to airport said him to open it...He opened and there was a ticket to Paris. After I said him, I´m inviting him for a lunch and walk to Paris, as a gift to his birthday. Then we enjoyed Paris a lot.
