Already Firefox experts, see if you can figure this one out.

In the 3 years that I've been using Firefox, if I resize the window and reposition it on the desktop, then close it, it has always defaulted to the last size & position I left it when I open it again later. It's the same pretty much the same behaviour with any other window - Internet Explorer, Windows Explorer, Word etc.

Recently, Firefox has been refusing to do this. Now, no matter what size and position I had the window in before, it will always default to almost maximum screen height, about 75% screen width, and always to the left of the screen. See picture below:

It's such a small thing, but it's driving me NUTS! I'm sure it's a registry value or something somewhere, but I can't find it. So...anyone got any idea how to stop it from doing this and driving me up the wall?

Go to control panel - folder options -view

IIRC, uncheck your 'remember each folder's view settings'.

Let me know if it works.

Nope.

It seems like this isn't a Windows Folder issue though...it's only happening with Firefox. Nothing else.

Then I would suggest you take a look at your control panel -> display -> advanced. There are some graphic cards that have the similar option of remembering the windows positions.

I haven't had this problem, but I've heard similar reports and they seem to be related to corrupted profiles. So, try backing up your profile, then uninstalling/reinstalling FF, then reload your profile. I use a tool called MozBackup (freeware) found here. I've used this tool to move machines and it works beautifully.

Oh...er...yeah...I knew that  biggrin . It's called Noia 2.0 eXtreme. My favourite theme so far for Firefox.

Interesting, and I think you're right. If I sign on to this computer as any other username, Firefox behaves as I would expect. It seems that it's only my profile that has this problem.

When I get the time, I'll try out that utility. Looks pretty decent.

Bingo! Thanks for pointing me to the profile, Searpqx. I didn't need to use the utility you created; it was much simpler than that.

I backed up my bookmarks, plug-ins and themes, then went exploring my profile. In Documents & Settings -> Application Data, there was a folder named Mozilla. I deleted it, rebooted, then launched Firefox. Began resizing and moving around, and it's all looking good now.

Removing that folder wiped out my bookmarks, plug-ins and themes, so I have to reapply those again, but now it's all looking peachy.

My thanks to you, sir!
