Thats because I had already used my SA passport to enter Israel in 1996, 1999 and 2000. I got my Australian passport in 2000, and used that once (in 2004) . I didn't have any problems entering Malaysia or Oman with the Israeli stamps on either of my passports.

The USA is not using IATA codes in their immigration stamps, they also use "SFR" instead of "SFO", "LOS" instead of "LAX", "NYC" instead of "JFK", "CHI" instead of "ORD" etc.

Patrick

Edit: I just saw in an old passport that "ATL" is in use at both the IATA and US immigration.

I'm actually a Brit living in Switzerland. No EU country bothers to stamp my passport.

Actually one of my co-workers was over in Switzerland and was on a small tour and stopped at the Post Office in Vaduz to get a Liechtenstein stamp.

Interesting, they must have changed it, mine (from 1998) says "LOS". But they changed the design of the immigration stamps in general so maybe they also changed the airport codes on them.

Probably. But they haven't changed the form where you have to indicate whether you were a member of the Nazi party between 1933 and 1945. That's a hilarious form Big grin

And the little note on the additional customs form, that declares that it complies with some environmental paper savings act...great stuff  Smile

One of the Austrian officials unfortunately stamped over one of my British stamps, which you can barely see at all, so I don't really blame him.

EDIT: A somewhat related question... If your passport runs out of stamp room, and/or starts falling apart, can you get a new one before the expiry date? The reason I ask is that I only have a 24 page passport, which already has many pages full (and I plan to do LOTS of travelling next year or so). It seems that some customs officials also really stamp in bad places making it hard to have more than 3 stamps on a page. I also have been pretty rough with it (as are customs officials), and it looks like the pages are not going to stay in there forever.

Bite me.

I just counted my UK entry stamps and managed to find 132 of those since 1997, and that excludes the little pieces of papers I get from IRIS. That isn't even top of the list since they only stamp entries - I figure at least 150 stamps from Ghana in the last couple years alone and around 50 each from South Africa, USA and Canada. Probably around 100 from India as well. Schengen states are harder to figure since the stamps all look the same, but I'll guess around 40 each from Netherlands, Germany and Italy. About 30 from Singapore, 20 from Hong Kong, 15 each from Thailand, France and Nigeria. At the low end of the scale are Liechstenstein (1), Austria (1), New Zealand (2) and Iceland (2). Totally 47 countries represented per my Excel spreadsheet.

Since my Namibian passport has far too many, I'll just list my US passport which has less:

USA (Chicago, Detroit, New York, Newark, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Dublin (pre-stamped in Ireland), Dallas)
Canada (Vancouver, Toronto)
Israel (Tel Aviv)
United Kingdom (London Heathrow, Channel Tunnel, London Gatwick)
Ireland (Dublin)

My Namibian passport is almost full...yikes. It includes places I can't really go on my American passport, such as Cuba and the Arab countries who don't allow you in with Israeli stamps (i.e.: Damascus, Syria)

Could that be before the Czech republic became a member of the EU (May 1st 2005 I believe)? I have crossed the border between Germany and the Czech republic multiple times. Over land I've never had a stamp. In the airport they stamped my passport before Czech Rep entered EU, 1 month ago, they didn't. Neither have I got a stamp outbound from SXF, but of course, to Denmark is a Schengen crossing, they don't even look at my passport.

When holding an EU passport, the other EU countries will not stamp you passport, although they will take a look at it, except when crossing a border between two Schengen countries. If this was not the case, I guess that my multiple crossings would have earned me a stamp by now  Smile

My current passport dates from Feb. 2005 but it's very close to replacement, just 4 blank pages left.

From the start (not necessarily in chronological order)
Russia (March05)
Croatia (Sept06)
Romania x3 (Feb 05, May 05 and Nov 06) - no chance to get them anymore as they're in EU now.
Bulgaria (May and June 05) - same
USA - LAX (Feb 07)
Canada - Dorval (July 05)
Bulgaria (Nov 05)
Qatar (May 05)
Kuwait (Jan 06)
USA - LAX (Feb 06)
Saudi Arabia (April 05)
Qatar (April 07)
Bahrain x2 (April 07 and April 05)
UAE x3 (Jan 06, Apr. 05 and May 05)
Kuwait x3 (same as UAE)
Russia (Sept. 05)
Kuwait (Apr. 07)
UAE (April 07)
Russia (Apr. 06)
USA - BLA (Jul. 05) IIRC this is the Peace Arch crossing between Seattle and Vancouver.
Bahrain (Jan- 06)
USA - NYC (Jun. 06) IIRC JFK
Lebanon (Apr. 07)
Lebanon (Jan 06)
Canada - PIA/AIP (Jun. 2006) that should be YYZ
Qatar (Jan 06)
Ukraine x3 (Apr. 06, Dec. 06 and Sept. 06)

The so very cool African visas are in old passports stored in a drawer at home.
