While Europe usually experiences warmish weather at this time of the year, many areas of central and southern Europe are covered in snow, albeit at higher elevations, 1200m+

But even these higher regions don't usually see snow until late October. On Mt Kopaonik in Southern Serbia, snow has already accumulated to well over 15 cm. Snow has fallen in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Bosnia and Montenegro, with more accumulation expected today and tomorrow.

Belgrade is at miserable +9'C, which is a whopping drop from yesterday's high of 23'C.

At this point, winter advisory has been issued for Kopaonik were heavy snow is now falling, temp -1'C.

Winter is definitely early!

The weather here during the whole summer was rather autumnish, with lots of rain and cold. I had to fire up the heating system in the house, which I normally wouldn't need to do between may and october. No snow here though, just rain and wind.

God damnit, it was 6C today at 8am, and now we're at about 12. Having just gotten back from a sunny, 35C Madrid, it feels even colder. However, as point out above, this summer has been shit to put it mildly. Lots of rain, wind, clouds and hardly any warm summer days. I'm so sick of it!

May fall be warm and sunny!

I hate winter.   

We've had an unusually wet and "cool" summer here in West Texas. I can get used to this "global warming" stuff!

I hope most of you in Central Europe are enjoying the early winter.

Zavizan, the highest town in Croatia, (1.600+ loose change meters) recorded 9 cm of snow as well, though in the current 4 C most it has probably melted away. Down here in ZAG, we're having our third day of 10-15 C-ish temperatures. A month ago, we had 43 C on record and now this...

Quite a change isn't it ?   That reminds me when I returned from Chicago a few years ago. It was 42°c and very humid in the Windy City, and barely 10°c and very windy in GVA.

Right now it's about 17°C, up from 8°C this morning.

This year, summer was in April, fall in July/August, and it looks like winter will be early too...
