Ever since I was young, I am obsessed with the success of America. And New York is the largest Financial Center in the US, as well as in the World.

It is a hugh city of more then eight million people of all ethnicities of the world, from Tahitians to Tibetians. People who don't bother to find out or to understand the complexities of life in NY tend to say something like: NY is so dirty and full of street crimes, New Yorkers are so aggressive and rude, and New York is controlled by Jews and the Mafias!

All these assertions have been made by Europeans and Asians, specially the Chinese! I have one in Hongkong tell me "life in New York is so dull and boring".

Well, like many things in real life, some of every opinion is to some degree sometimes contain certain kernal of half truth. The fact of the matter is that New York is full of superlatives of so many things that people are envious. New York is the headquarters of some of the largest world corporations, it is the center of world finance at Wall Street, it is the centers of publications, advertisement, and entertainments.

New York city alone has over twenty universities and ten major museums.

Last year was one of the poorer years in the tourist industry in New York, and New York had over 12 million visitors! I still tell people who come to New York city first time that don't ever think New York is typical of the United States. When you are young and can afford the time and money, New York is a very exciting place. If you like gourmet food of the cuisines of the world, or if you are a "culture vulture", you have you have operas and concerts. New York educates and broadens you mind, it is the IN place of the world!

Yep. I was one of those visitors. Been to new york a few times and i liked it. I stayed in queens (astoria) and to be honest, i didn't like it much, but i did like the lush and spacious suburbs in the north part of the city and ofcourse i like manhattan.

Most people have a stereotype image of the city as a rough gangster city run by drug dealers and the mafia, but the fact is, the mafia no longer hardly exist and crime has gone down since the 80's. But obviously every city has its problems and no place on earth is perfect and overall , ny is a exciting place.

Just my opinion

I like more laid back cities. As a city, New York is awesome, with the whole world gathered on one island you can have everything you ever dreamed of there on Manhattan. But I like places where you can live in a city without the hustle of a business atmosphere. Also I like mountains and less clouds. So for my purposes the Bay Area, Portland, Anchorage and Salt Lake are great.

Well I've been living here all my life. I've never felt so proud to say I am a New Yorker. I WANT TO SCREAM IT TO THE WORLD - I LOVE NEW YORK.

I always mention the different cultures and different things you can do here in NY. I've always said that when you come to NY you have to do NY. It will take you more than a week to get to know this city. I have a friend that came for a week and he decided to stay for two more. And even then he missed some things. He is coming back in the summer.

AGAIN I LOVE NEW YORK!!!
