What is your favorite fast food restaurants and your least favorite?

My favorite fast food joint when it comes to burgers is In n' Out and Johns in Long Beach, great burgers, great fries and the service is great, middle of the road is McDonald's and Carl's Jr, so so is Wendy's and Burger King and not so good is Jack In The Box, the restaurant is always dirty and the food is thick with grease.

When it comes to chicken, KFC is good and Popeye's is good too just not the biscuits.

Taco bell used to be good but the hard shell tacos have almost nothing in them, and the enchiladas are droopy with brown lettuce and the service is sometimes bad, one time the young lady behind the counter had an attitude with me for no reason. Del Taco has improved recently with good tacos, fries and burgers.

When it comes to pizza non of the pizza chains are very good at all, not Domino's, not Pizza Hut, not Papa Johns though better than the first two. The good pizza comes from the non chain restaurants like Avenue 3 Pizza and Deli News in Long Beach.

All of the sandwich chains are pretty good like Subway, Quizno's and Togo's.

I used to LOVE Pollo Loco, when it was just whole chickens on the grill, fresh salsa, and fresh tortillas. Now it's a slightly less dreadful version of Taco Bell:-(.

Hardee's

I wish we had Hardees in the UK. The only place I've seen them outside of the US is Dubai.  Sad

My cousin in NC got me addicted to Taco Bell back in the late 80s, and for a while we even had a few in London, but they have since closed down. We even had Arby's for a while too, but again, they closed down (my local Arby's is now a tacky slot machine joint!).

I used to hate McDreadful's, but I'm actually quite impressed with the deli sandwiches they do these days. And I hate the waxy taste that Burger King burgers seem to have.

I can stomach Subways after a night on the beer, but I think I have only been in one here twice when sober!

I'd probably have to say though that my favourite local fast food places aren't actually chains. We have a kebab shop near where I live called Cappadocia, which does authentic Turkish kebabs, and the guy that runs it is actually from Cappadocia (one of my favourite places on earth!!).

Mostly because their customer service is horrible...75% of the time they get my order wrong. And my favorite is the way NO ONE counts out your change anymore when you pay with actual money. And last but not least, on top of not counting out your change, especially when you go thru the drive thru, when they hand back your change with the coins piled on top of the paper money, as you struggle to get your hand back in the car without dropping it all! Yes, I have some serious issues with McDonalds!

Love Wendy's. Best burgers, and excellent ffries.

We have a KFC in our town that has got to be the absolute worst fast food place known to man. I've gone there more than once, and they've had no chicken cooking or ready; they have the most surley employees on the planet; and if they do have chicken, when you go to pay for it, they'll say "Oh, we forgot to put the fires on, that'll be another 20 minutes".

I like KFC in general, but that place is the worst.

Burgerville

My Worst:

I do not find Taco Bell as horrid as others on this thread say. Maybe, because I worked there for eight years, off and on, I have a "soft spot" for them. A sentamental favorite, if you will. Also, no one has mentioned Sonic. They would have gone on my "Best" list, but the one closest to me (in Hillsboro 45 miles away!) started selling Pickel-Os. That bumped them down a notch.

In-n-out is quite good. It's the freshness of everything that makes it so good.

Jack n' the Box has cheap and addictive tacos. Funny commercials too.

Sonic is good if you have a few more minutes. Drinks are very good. Unfortunately, I think their ads are the worst on television not involving feminine hygene so I am currently boycotting Sonic.

Panda Express is probably my biggest weakness though. I eat there way too often.

Having grown up in ABQ, I'm also a fan of a New Mexico only burger chain called Blake's Lotaburger. Good burgers and seasoned fries, but you will be lucky if any of the employees speak more than the most basic English.

Amen! I used to work for a Wendy's as a grill guy when I still lived in Pittsburgh. They do have some of the best burgers around next to Fuddruckers, but I wouldn't exactly call that fast food.

You want subpar fast food service? How about going to any burger King or McDonalds, ordering french fries with "as many ketchups as you have," only to have them give you a couple. I find that supremely annoying...

I haven't eaten at a McDonalds in a long time really. I usually try to avoid them, especially considering that I've had co-workers eat at various McD's only to have food poisoning shortly thereafter...

Two weeks ago, while on vacation in Italy, my girlfriend and myself found us in an Italian fastfood (not really fastfood, but it was self service) place called Brek. It was a pleasant surprise (especially since it seemed to be very much frequented by the locals, who know what good food is).
Traditional Italian food freshly cooked in front of you and at a good price.

There's somewhere I forgot to mention, and that's Gourmet Burger Kitchen, a chain that is springing up all over the UK. It's not really a fast food place, more of a burger restaurant. You place your order at the counter and your food is brought to you when it's ready. They have a great range of burgers. And they do great milkshakes too...they even bring you the whole metal jug full of the stuff straight from the mixer so you can carry on topping up your own glass! Sit me down with a Chorizo burger and a lime milkshake and I'm a happy bunny!!

Pricey, not particularly fast, but a nice informal place to have a good-tasting burger. It's all about the burger with pesto and mozzarella! Though I haven't tried their shakes - they do stock Coke in glass bottles though.

In terms of proper fast-food, I'm a McDonald's man at heart, but sometimes need a bit of BK or KFC. Where I live there isn't a McDonalds or a KFC (or a Starbucks, for that matter - what sort of city IS this?) and Burger King shuts by 6:30pm!

Subway, of which there are strangely (in such a small city) two branches, is open until 3am though!

First of all, great thread!! I feel hungry all of a sudden  Smile

Here are some of my favourites (in USA):

Mexican:

Baja Fresh (I am surprised none of the west coasters mentioned this one yet)
Taco Bell (alright, it's not exactly gourmet, but they have some great stuff)
Chano's drive in (incredible...and its a right of passage for anyone living in south central LA)

Burgers:

In-n-out (there is no comparison...)
Arby's (OK, it's not a burger joint but I love the arby melts and the potato cakes)
Original Tommy's (incredible chili burgers)

Other:

Zankou Chicken

Here are some of my least favourites:

McDonalds
Burger King
El Pollo Loco (i used to love it...and then I got my first job working there when I was 16 years old and in high school. Let's just say I don't eat there anymore)
KFC and Popeyes...never struck my fancy

KFC (can be hit or miss)
Chick-Fil-A (decent but overpriced)

Everything else I try to avoid. I would like to try In-n-Out, though.

Thanks, this is a fun and intriguing discussion thread.

Though I said chain pizza restaurants make lousy pizza, COSTCO though not a restaurant makes very good pizza.

Favorite:
Subway-healthy and good sub sandwiches
Taco Bell-good tacos at a good price
Dairy Queen
McDonalds
Burger King

Least favorite:
every other sub sandwich place (including Quiznos and Jimmy Johns)
KFC-some of the stuff is good but its so greasy
Wendy's-who wants a fattening triple patty cheeseburger?!  vomit
Chipolete-not sure if that place counts as fast food but I don't like their tacos
