A soldier from a Sydney-based commando unit has been killed near Port Augusta in South Australia while training for deployment in Afghanistan. It is understood the soldier was shot in the head during a live firing exercise at the Cultana Military Base at about 9:30pm last night.

What a tragedy, and a total screw-up by whoever was involved. Condolences to the soldier's family. My sister was the doctor on call at the Port Augusta hospital last night, and it seems it was total chaos with the security and the media.
