The NBA owners officially approved the move of the Charlotte Hornets to New Orleans. The team will start playing in the New Orleans Arena next season.

This is one of the best days of my life.

Congrats!! Are they going to try to get the Jazz name back? It may be difficult since jazz is so big in Utah

They should switch names with Salt Lake City.
Utah is the 'Beehive' state.
New Orleans is the birthplace of jazz.
So it would totally have since if Utah would call themselves the Hornets.


Doesen't really matter because the Pacers are going to beat them anyway!  

I feel bad for the Charlotte fans. They're still in the playoffs with a decent shot at making it to the conference finals. I wonder what the crowd will be like at their next home game after the move has been made official.

Btw, I wouldn't jump for joy for all the New Orleans fans- yet. Hornets still have to shake off their curse of not being able to retain their own free agents (recall Mourning, Rice and a string of other decent players).
If Baron Davis doesn't sign to a max deal this summer, it's a bad sign for them...

What fans? Nobody I know around the Raleigh area is a fan, nobody I know around Greensboro is a fan, and nobody I know around Charlotte is a fan! I guess I would pull for them against other teams, but nobody around here seems to care that they're going... I dunno if it is the influence of ACC b-ball or what, but nobody cares if they stay or not!

Well, the jazz is taken, so how 'bout the New Orleans Satchmos (Louie Armstrong's nickname). That name sounds cool.

They should retain the Hornets name".

I remember reading that my hometown of Louisville was trying hard to get the Hornets. I never could figure out why. With UL and UK basketball hugely popular, who would end up going to these games?

New Orleans makes a bit more sense. Hope they do a better job of retaining the team this time.
