Is any A.net ham taking part in this weekend´s WAG (Work All Germany) contest?
I´m currently on air on 20m. I got more contacts within the last 2 hours than I got within the whole last year.
Most of them are European stations, but I´ve got a few DX stations as well.
It also helps that I´ve got a new transceiver (and ICOM IC-735) and a Heathkit SB-200 PA. At least now I stand a chance of being heard in a pile-up.
In an hour or two I´ll be moving to 40m.

Sorry Jan, I have got three transceivers here but no antenna.
For sure the pair of 572B is a good addition to make you heard but dont overload them, those little lamps are fragile.
Next year perhaps.

gd luck in the contest

The SB-200 was designed for 1 full gallon ( 1 kW), but I only drive it up to about 500 W. But at least the little additional power makes the difference in the S-values that the others will actually hear me.

The SB-200 carries a pair of 572B that will produce max 650W output (1.2KW input).
Heathkit later made the SB-220 with a pair of 3-500Z capable of a full KW out.

Both excellent pieces of equipment, like almost everything that came out Benton Harbor, Michigan.
I can't tell how many of these kits I have assembled...

I´m QRT now. I´ll get up early tomorrow to catch the Pacific countries when the 20m band opens up.
