Topic: So, Where Should I Be Headed? Username: baldwin471 Posted 2012-09-21 17:04:48 and read 1521 times.Hello all.
I've managed to get 2 weeks out of work next month, between the 8th and 22nd, and i've decided i want to get some flying in. So, where should i go? Preferably a city as i'd like to get an experience of another culture. If any of the lovely people on this site are free in their respective cities on any of those days maybe you could give me a tour
Cheers in advance.

If you prefer to stay in Europe, I find AMS and PRG to be interesting.
BKK, PNH & SGN were great to explore.
CPT and CAI were lovely.
UIO and PTY are places I would return.
SYD & ADL can also be recommended.
Knowing some places you've been and enjoyed can also help direct recommendations. |

Thanks for the response.
I'm happy to go anywhere really, as long as the price is right
I've spent a month in Thailand (BKK/HKT/CNX) back in July and it was great.
NYC looks like a fantastic place, but probably not for someone on a relative budget.

If you've got little money, I'd suggest you see where EasyJet, Ryanair etc. can take you. If you've got a little more money, you should mess around with Alitalia's website a little. They currently offer flights to New York for €200, South Africa for €300, Australia for €500. It all requires a good deal of flexibility but the savings are usually worth it. It all depends on how much money you can spend. |

Well my budget is around £1,300 for flights and accommodation. I have been looking at Alitalia but they don't have any types i haven't tasted. I'd love to try the Swiss 343.

I would be looking at Italy or Spain because of the weather. I was about to say Ireland, but don't know if it would be OK weather wise.
One other option would be to fly to a Med city and catch a cruise ship. Provides accommodation and food for the price, and you can see various cities while relaxing. Beats the hell out of packing & unpacking, be rooms (cabins) are better than a 2 star budget hotel, etc. If you like the idea check with a travel agent for any hidden bargains. Under US$100 is normally available, and you can get lower from a good agent or the internet. |

As they say don't leave town till you're seen your country, take a flight to Edinburgh, Belfast ....... lots of interesting things to see in the UK which I bet you've not seen yet.

Visit Cuba.
Seeing that you're in the UK, you can get a direct, non-stop flight on their IL96 to Havana from London. They also have the lowest priced business class across the Atlantic Ocean.
Cuba is full of culture; music, dance, paintings, old vintage cars, great beaches, friendly people, cigars, booze and it's all at a good price.
Plenty of stories in the trip reports forums about Cuba.
