I bought a new Asus computer and when i plug my beats headphones into the jack the sounds is muted and filled with echos. If I hold the mute button on the headphones the sound is normal. Any ideas how to fix this? It's pissing me off.

Well, we'd need more information.

Do the headphones work with other computers? Do other headphones work with the Asus?

Keep the mute button on. Apparently your beats have a mic and are picking up the sound from your headphones.

I would use the mic mute on the ASUS.

I can't comment on this particular issue, as I have no experience with either Asus or Beats headphones; however, I just recently decided to purchase a set of phones to use with my new iMac. Normally, I tend to buy most computer stuff online, but with headphones, I like to listen to them first.

So, I stopped at the Best Buy Store in Terre Haute and listened to every headphone they had; as I'm about 60% deaf, I can't be too sure about the sound from speakers, but with headphones, the hearing problem just "goes away"; so......after listening to every thing they had, the CLEAR winner was..........the top two headphones from Bose; the Quiet Comfort noise-cancelers sound AWESOME, (and they cost $300) The "next ones down" are non-noise canceling, and sound every bit as good, but are NOT noise canceling, (and cost $150) So now, I had to make a choice;

Normally, when faced with things like this, I almost always go with the "bigger is better", and go with the best, (or in this case, the one which costs more) But I'm thinking, I will ONLY be using these while at the computer; and I don't "need" noise cancelation here; and any time I fly, I always take my Etymotic ear-buds to use with my iPod; ( those suckers don't let ANY noise "leak in", (and you can carry them right with the iPod because they're SMALL.

So I ended up buying the $150 Bose non-noise canceling phones; after about a month now, I know I made the right choice; these phones sound GREAT! Both for just listening to you tube videos, AND for listen to music. So......if you need earphones to use for your computer AND music, keep one thing in mind; "on ear" phones hurt your ears after more than a few minutes, BUT they are somewhat smaller, making them somewhat easier to "drag around" with you.

"Over ear" headphones, (like these Bose phones), are a "little" bigger, but they are COMFORTABLE, hour after hour, while you play around on your computer (or listen to your iPod), (or your "what-ever"). And if that's not enough to get you to spring for a set of $150 phones, think about this: "stuff" from Bose always "lasts longer" ! (at least it does for me)
