Maybe NYC in Feb/March, then moving to Japan in March.

In Japan, over a weekend or something, I'm going to an Onsen in Takayama.

Sometime in July over obon, i'll go to Okinawa, then back to Phoenix, Cincinnati, maybe South Carolina for the annual, then back to Japan. Winter next year is still a toss up, as it isn't even winter yet here

South Korea in May, hopefully on the inaugural AA DFW-ICN flight.
Plan to visit Thailand on the same trip as well.

I have plans to visit Chicago again sometime in the early spring. Totally love that city.

Brazil, South Africa, Norway, Indonesia and China are on my bucket list.

Argentina, Peru, Brazil (Uruguay & Bolivia too potentially) Jan-Mar (6 weeks)
USA (maybe a 2 week add on to Flight Dispatch training - dependant on which course I sit/when and where)

Potentially I currently have another 4 weeks spare after all that, so I will likely go somewhere else as well.

March 2013 - Carnival Breeze 8 days visiting St. Thomas, Tortola, Antigua, and Nassau. Any tips? I'm excited for the widebody flight even if it's just an AA 763 SFO-MIA.

July 2013 - Carnival Victory 4 days visiting Key West and Cozumel. I'm still up in the air over this one since it's a shitty time to visit the Caribbean and it's such a short cruise for a cross country flight... but the cousin is getting married so first world problems really.

I'm sure more will come up with family in Socal, DTW, and PHX.

I had been planning to go to Rio for Carnival again, which is why I selected Jan-Feb for my leave. I have since changed my mind. I'm creating an Itinerary currently that will probably include
Buenos Aires
Montevideo
Iguazu
Ciudad del Este/Asuncion (maybe)
Florianopolis (maybe)
Bariloche (By train from BA) (maybe)
Lima
Arequipa
Juliaca (maybe)
Puno (maybe)
La Paz (maybe)
Cuzco
Puerto Maldonado
Iquitos (maybe)

If that goes to plan I will have 3 new countries and only 4 more to visit in South America. (Ecuador, Guyana, Suriname ,French Guiana)

I'll likely be in YYC somewhere in March and again in June/July. Having lived there I have a lot of friends over there and the area is just stunning.

I'm also planning a visit to Muscat late 2013, lived there between in the 90s and haven't been back since.

Still don't know where to go in Summer, maybe Cyprus

When Norwegian get it managed with the 787's the chance is high to get to another continent (first time) and as many others too this will be America.

Two holidays already booked.

Holiday 1

Four nights in Edinburgh with the wife and kids in February, why Edinburgh the kids were watching Scooby Doo, he was at Edinburgh Castle, the boys wanted to go so thanks to Scooby we're going.

Holiday 2

Summer vacation spent in NZ during winter. Flying to AKL via SFO on SK and NZ, then back to LA a couple of days at DisneyLand, down to San Diego to SeaWorld then on to Vegas for 4 nights , back to Norway via ORD and CPH.

Just trying to work out what I want as a rental car for the US part of the trip, we have three kids, one will be in a baby seat the other two in boosters, plus luggage and a baby buggy, options are:

Surburban
Grand Caravan
Mercedes GL450
Infinity QX56

The QX56 and GL450 are dirt cheap by Norwegian rental standards, the Suburban and Caravan are basically so cheap they might as well be free.

-Last days of 2012 & first two weeks of 2013 I will be in Thailand with my family, around Krabi area. Offers a nice break from dark boring Finnish winter. Flights from Helsinki to Krabi and back with Finnair.

- Somewhere in April or May I will spend about 5 days in Edinburgh, basically a trip from school. Flights from Helsinki to Edinburgh through Amsterdam with KLM.

- In July I will spend 3 weeks in Greece, Flights VAA - RIX - ATH and back with Air Baltic, maybe also some domestic flights in Greece.

I graduate in April, so I plan on working throughout the summer to try and kill my student debt, then taking a trip to Scotland with my cousin in September.

The reason for it is when my uncle retired a few years ago, he spent about 8 months researching our family's history (my father's side) since we knew very little beyond when my great-grandparents immigrated to Canada. He managed to trace our ancestry back 8 generations to a small village southwest of Glasgow called Beith. Using the booklet that my uncle wrote, my cousin and I want to visit the village and check out all the landmarks that are mentioned in the booklet (places of birth, houses where they lived, significant events, etc.).

I'm leaning towards taking FI since their YYZ-RKV-GLA routing is by far the cheapest way to get from YYZ to GLA.

Time and budget permitting, I may do some backpacking around Europe while I'm already on that side of the pond.

Go for the infinity. Better interior and just not so tinny as the American stuff.. Every time i get a car from one of the US marques from one of the major rental cars if they break down or have a fault with them. I went through 5 cars one year, when I should have only needed 3.

Glad you're interested!

Late April-Late May and Early September-Late October is definitely the best in terms of weather. July and August can be rainy and January can be quite cold.

1 week should be fine to explore the Seoul area, but of course there are other beautiful parts of the country including Jeju Island, and transportation within the country is cheap, safe and reliable.

Chicago is one of my favorite cities in North America. You'll love it and find lots to do. The lakefront is gorgeous especially in the Summer.

Going to try and see how many baseball games/parks I can take in this year. Note that this is difficult because the nearest MLB team is an hour's flight from where I live. This year, I'm going to try to return to San Francisco (GF and I had a blast there this past September), as well as games in Seattle, Toronto, NYC, Boston, LA and maybe Washington and Chicago. Also, I'm going to try for some postseason baseball; I've been a fan of the game for almost 25 years, and I've never been to playoff game - I hope to change that this year.

Beyond that I don't have anything planned, apart from GTFO'ing when the Calgary Stampede rolls around in early July.

Yeah, I'd love it up there if I was retired. Just sit inside with a nice fire going and watch the snow fall. You'd only have to go out when you wanted to. I love snowshoeing but no longer have the shoulders for skiing. One more good fall and I'd be looking for replacements. I love Great Lakes boats and railroads, along with hiking, so that would be the perfect area for me.

I'm jealous of all of your trips! Nothing too fancy for me thanks to school. Going to my roommates house with some buddies in CLT for some fishing and wake boarding for spring break. We aren't the Cancun party types! Maybe another trip to the family house on the Mississippi in August when the summer semester winds down and before the fall semester starts! Going to need a nice break after school overload!

Either the Merc or the infinity, more comfy ride and better quality than the Caravan/Suburban (probably better gas mielage too)

As for me, I am planning a trip to DXB for Easter, nice and easy ¨short¨ 6 hour flight from BCN on EK, I want to tick it off the list and see what all the fuss on DXB is about.

Then on the list are, Korea/Japan or HKG/TPE or if too expensive, I can always settle for good ole SIN

Yes, and the most thirsty! in that case go for the Caravan, you can remove the rearmost seats and should be able to do the job perfectly (I guess)

Does anybody have any tips for Dubai? I am planning my 4 day trip over easter next year, I already booked a hotel near Deira, I would love to visit some of the cultural areas like Bastakiya, explore the souqs and eat some cheap nice local food, then obviously tick off some of the glitzy malls and go up the Burj Khalifa.

We're having a baby in February so will be a little quiet compared to previous years, however we have pencilled in something like this:

Singapore for a week in May, (friends and relatives visit)
Bali 2 weeks in September, time split between a villa in Ubud and a villa in Seminyak
Australia for the Christmas break

Likely weekend trips to Thailand and Malaysia. I may sneak away through the middle of the year to watch a couple of All Black's games in Australia and NZ, (just a weekend trip also)

Well 2013 will hopefully spend less time at my parent's home since their cancers are now both in remission and the guilt of not being there has lessened. We are planning to head to SFO and drive down to LA and then up towards Chicago in the spring. Hopefully spend some time in Europe next summer for more than just business, but also to meet with my future in laws in the Netherlands and for my partner to meet my relatives in Germany, Hungary and England. I am not going to work so much this coming year as I am thinking of slowing down the business to be with my partner more or at least spend less time working than the this year. i want to get married some time and we are going to need a honeymoon as well. We will probably go see a Rush concert or two in Europe next year as well.

Probably 3 or 4 to Branson with grandkids. (Might be more fun going to Florida with them.)

We are looking at London as a stopping point, with Ireland and France high on the list. A cruise in the Med is also on the list - high on the list. My preference is going out of Barcelona and ending up somewhere in Italy.

This one would be for us - no kids or grandkids.

Thanks to my job in the airline industry I was able to experience the world of cruising and am hooked.

There needs to be a Smilie for ENVY.

Starting to work on the holidays for 2013, and Hong Kong is coming up in Feb. Cyprus is booked for a long weekend in March and now Algiers for a long weekend in May. Other than that it's all up in the air: I'll be consulting with mates and looking for weekends on the Continent and probably one in the UK as well. As for our main two-week holiday at the end of the year I haven't a clue, but it'll probably be somewhere unusual and interesting.

Roll on the new year!

So far, these are my plans:

* January to Zürich for the WEF, for business and for spotting.
* July, two weeks in a villa in Tuscany.

That's confirmed. In the planning are spotting trips to Madrid and Frankfurt and with the family a winterbreak to Lanzarote in December.

Cheers!

Paris late March/early April. I will try to squeeze Algiers in that trip.

Then Chicago in early May. So far that's it.

1st two weeks March, Jan & I will be in St Lucia. Going with another couple, no hotel, have rented a house. Not cheap, but lots more flexibility, own pool as well.

Canada Day weekend (around July 1) train to Vancouver. Sleeper. Again not cheap but neither of us have done the train through the Rockies. But we'll fly back.

Scheduling holidays is awkward since I'm retired (although consulting) but she's still working full-time.

Not exactly a vacation but I'm off to Nicaragua this July/August for three weeks for a community service, cultural immersion, and language learning trip. Going to teach young students English, build houses/schools or what not, farm, live "a dollar a day",hike up a volcano and all those good stuff.

If I also get in to the other scholarship program that I applied to (My interview is next month) Then I'll have the chance to spend 2 weeks to a country of my choice (out of a few choices) to do community service and cultural immersion as well. If all works out, hopefully, I'm off to either South Africa or the Czech Republic.

And if the second community service trip happens, that'll only leave me 2 weeks for family vacation or simply free time. Hopefully Sweden and Scandinavia in general to finally visit some family members there.

Non-aviation trips for me so far this year - a week at a beachfront holiday park on mid-North coast NSW. It will be great for the kids - and I'll like it too.

Hoping I can convince the wife to head back to Malaysia to do the diving resort bit of the trip cut short with my eye surgery in mid-last year. And my father-in-law is trying to arrange a family get-together in either Hawaii or west coast USA (brother-in-law is in Boston) at some stage, althouhg I want to spend some time in Germany.

All my holidays for next year will be towards the end of the year, except for finishing this current holiday that I'm on - I'm having new years here in Australia in the lovely city of Cairns in tropical North Queensland with friends from Papua New Guinea and flying back home to BNE on Janaury 4.

Apart from that, for me it looks like in either September, October or November I'll be taking another holiday here in Cairns for 2 nights, likely 2 or 3 weeks in Papua New Guinea (will be my third trip there), then heading back to London for Christmas and New Years to see 2014 in with a potential side trip to Cardiff and maybe Luxembourg while I'm there to make the trip more worthwhile.

Hopping over to Ireland for a week on the 4th of January to see some family and friends, and there'll be a week in Cyprus in October for an Irish-Cypriot cousin's wedding. That's all that's planned out for the moment, but there will probably be a few more little excursions popping up along the way.

Cheers
Mats
