The Knight Rider thread got me to thinking about Airwolf which got me to thinking about Tales of the Gold Monkey. Anyone remember it?

Yep. I remember that show. Stephen Collins with that classic Grumman Goose...at least I think it was a Goose. Could be that "the plane, the plane" from Fantasy Island. Wink/being sarcastic Regards.

Apparently you can buy all of the episodes on DVD...

I'm remembering one episode where he lost his instruments so he took a Mason jar, filled it halfway with water, and used what's-her-names lipstick to draw a line on it for an attitude indicator. 'Course we know now it wouldn't work.

Really they are out on DVD.

I got one of my lear pilots laughing one time. I downloaded a copy of the theme song for that show (He remembered it too) and then as he was walking out to the airplane had it playing over the intercom.

Eventually I switched it over to the theme song from "Sanford and Son". For some of the trips it seemed more approrpriate.

Sure I remember that series, it was filmed on (in?) Bora Bora with that distinctive mountain as the backdrop.

Also remember that we've got some photos on the database of the actual Goose used as "Cutter's Goose" in the series, N327:

It was on TV in Greece about 1982-3. It was not subtitled but (how do you call it when local actors speek over it?? Dubbing? Transcribe?). They were even translating the Goose to "Hina" (which it is goose in greek) and I was 10 years old believing than a plane is called a bird.

Anyway I remember most of the characters, the Bora Bora place and the one-eye dog who could reply "yes" or "no" by barking twice on once.
