A "DEWI" and I bought it 2 month ago in Sharjah, UAE. I was looking for a big rice cooker but couldn't find
it here in The Netherlands, so when I went to Dubai and visiting Sharjah, I've found a very nice, big rice cooker over there so I decided to buy it!!!

My roommate is vietnamese, so I know what a ricecooker is.

We don't have one however. Cooking rice is easy : 1 glass of rice, 2 glasses of water, put that on a medium fire, come back in ten minutes, it over and delicious...

Im always afraid of those things. I've heard of them setting apartments on fire, but then perhaps they are the cheap ones that one finds in Chinatown here in SF...

I myself use calrose rice and use my le Creuset pot to cook it in. Works wonderfullly!

@Mx5_boy
i have to agree with Sobelino, i put that stuff into a bowl 1:2. So where`s the difference between cooking rice in a rice cooker (whatever that is - lol) and a bowl with water on the oven.
Cheers

Guys,

LOL

I don't have any other Hello Kitty merchandise - I just found it bizarre that they would make a rice cooker.

I'm trying to find a photo of it.

Stop lying, Mx5_boy! You are a closet Hello Kitty Fan! ADMIT IT!!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Anyway, there's no need to be afraid of rice cookers you know......... if they wer dangerous all of Singapore and Hong Kong would have burnt down by now.

My family has a National Ricecooker.

I had a friend who went overseas to study (he had a maid at home all his life so never had to use the rice cooker)

When he decided to use it for the first time, (in Melbourne, I think) he put the rice in and switched it on. He then left for his neighbour's room. (That's all there is to do isn't there?)

After 3 hours the rice was still not ready, and the kitchen was full of smoke. In a panic he switched the cooker off and opened it.

His friend looked in and was like "You need to add water before cooking the rice you know."

Years ago, I had a rice cooker that did a great job of flying off the 18th floor of my apartment building. Man, did that thing ever sail far. It literally stuck around 8 inches into the building's back lawn. Big grin

Oops, my mistake, that was my vegetable steamer ....never mind.

I was once tempted to buy a 'National' 'Rice Queen' that caught my eye in a departmental store in Kuala Lumpur which my boyf at the time, would have found v. amusing (I'm sure) but couldn't really bear to lug it back to London.

Yea, I drive a 95 M5, other wise known as a rice cooker!!!

Actually, my family hosted a young man from Korea for about a year and he bought us a rise cooker. After he left, we quit eating Kim Chi, sea weed (Sp?) and sticky rice for breakfast. It was good though.
