Blender magazine has come out with its list of the 50 worst bands of all time. Number 1 on the list was "Insane Clown Posse"....i could agree with that
Number 2 was "Emerson, Lake and Palmer"...I have a hard time agreeing with that one.

Others on list were "Whitesnake", "Iron Butterfly", "Michael Bolton", "Spin Doctors", and "Starship"

Anyways, I was wondering does anyone have the list or know of a link to it on the web. I'm not gonna go out and buy the magzine just to see the list.

Hello DodgeCharger. Big grin

Sorry, but I don't have the list or a website link.  Sad

However, I certainly do hope that 1970's band called "The Bay City Rollers" is right near the top! Those guys were a bunch of checkered fags!

I had to listen to their crap all the time while in public school because they were LOVED by all the little school girls.

ABBA has got to be on that list.

ABBA was a great band! They were popular worldwide, and had hit after hit. I still enjoy listening to them.

Please explain to me how Peter Frampton got on someone's top 50 worst bands list? If it's the top 50 bands you personally don't like, then that's understandable, but like him or not (as well as many of the other bands I've seen in this thread), he is a top notch musician.

I might put the Beatles on the top 50 worst bands list because (among other things) they are off key, not together, and have terrible singing voices. Add to that their perplexing success, and you get a band that doesn't deserve the fame they have.

 Big thumbs up

Emerson, Lake & Palmer? I happen to like them quite a lot.

And Peter Frampton. Here is a classic case of yet another one hit wonder that didn't know when to quit. I forced myself to listen to his latest "hit" this past week and was ashamed for the man.

I'm somewhat ashamed to admit that I have every one of one of the other bands listed above, ABBA. The rest of the list I tend to agree with though.

A few more:

-- WHAM

-- Air Supply

-- Player

-- Supertramp

Just a few that come to mind as I remember that there was a time that being subjected to hearing top-40 radio was sheer brutality...the likes of which this earth has never seen. The scourge of late 70's/early 80's "corporate rock" were dark days for music fans.

BTW: Even though I don't care for ELP ( the sound was just too keyboardy for me ) they did what they did well...I wouldn't list them amongst the worst.

I think ELPs keyboardy, syntheziser type sound is probably why so many don't really care for them. But speaking as a drummer, Carl Palmer from ELP does some of the most amazing things I have ever heard on the drums. So I tend to like some of their stuff.

Lords of Acid.
Moldy Peaches
Gwar
Tyketto
Shotgun Symphony
Fear Factory
Napalm Death
Rick Astley
and a whole bunch of others.

But not Whitesnake. They rule. I feel a song coming...

IS THIS LOVE? THAT I'M FEELING? IS THIS THE LOVE? THAT IVE BEEN WATING FORRR? IS THIS LO-HURVE? THAT IM FEEEELANG? IS THIS THE LO-HURVE THAT I'M SEARCHIN' FOR!

Nah, as far as being over-rated, that award goes to the Rolling Stones.
Still a good band though.

Any "hair" band from the 80s......

Examples:

Poison
Ratt
Cinderella
Winger
Faster Pussycat
Bon Jovi....yes, Bon Jovi....they gave music a bad name!
Motley Crue (the early years) before they went "leather"

Sad to say that this was my high school "generation."

I forgot to mention Fleetwood Mac since Stevie came on board. That is bad "music."

And FB05, why are the Beatles every bit, more so indeed, as popular as they were 30 years ago? I admit I was not a great fan of them when I was young but in the past few years I've begun to appreciate their talent and chemistry.

And Elvis, ignoring his moments of glory, is still dead.

What is a "Creed" anyhow?

I personally believe Nirvana should be listed in the top 5 Worst Bands of All Time.

Kurt Cobain killed himself WAY too early. Had he stuck around for a few more years, people would have eventually seen him for the no-talent hack he really was.

But noooo....he takes a shotgun to himself and guarantees that idiots all across the globe would elevate him to "musical genius" status.  Insane

Motley Crue (the early years) before they went "leather"

Hell no, Motley Rules! Except for "Theater Of Pain" that was all crap. But if you want to listen to a metal album, and I don't mean hair metal but a good metal album then download some songs from Shout At The Devil which was before Theater Of Pain.

50 worst bands of all time - certainly not The Beatles! They are probably the best band ever. Their musical genius and songwriting skills were superlative and their songs timeless - which is why they still sell millions of CDs over 30 years after disbanding. Certainly not ABBA either - though their music was not as lyrically strong as Beatles music it was very catchy and made to free the soul and dance all night long to - a captivation which it still holds for millions.

Boy bands? Now you're talking. Those who are manufactured, have somebody write all their songs for them and can barely sing - now those deserve relegation to such a list. Please do not trash musical heavyweights like The Beatles and ABBA by suggesting they belong to any such list.

TrintoCan.

I had to do a double take here too...as the "early years" ( 'Too Fast for Love' & 'Shout at the Devil' ) was definately their "meatiest" work- Very solid straight-ahead metal. After that, with few exceptions, they denigrated into more of a "hair band".

Nail on the head on this. Not by any means great music but it sure srtikes the soul when said soul is open.

Any band that has been around for longer than 10 years and only gets local gigs.

When you can recognize the drummer as the guy who delivered your pizza the night before.

When the lead singer wears Jordache jeans.

When the band sounds pretty sweet....when youre waiting to get inside.

When the roadies include at least four homeless people.
----
In all seriousness, ABBA wasnt as bad as everyone says it was.

LHMark, Rednex? C'mon. I'm not saying they were a good band or anything to that effect. The problem with them is that they were about 5 years ahead of their time and that is why their music wasnt very well recieved. The same with Steppenwolf.

Seven Mary Three was great. I really enjoy their music. Once you crack open one of their CDs and listen to ALL of their songs, you really gain an appreciation for them.

Hootie and The Blowfish had generic songs, but to their credit, they attempted to keep it fresh. I dont think they can really be ranked in the bottom 50.

Heres my bottom ten rock bands (in no particular order):
-Peter Frampton (one of the worst performers of ALL TIME)
-Spin Doctors
-ICP
-Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
-Winger
-Grateful Dead (I know all of you are going to disagree with this one)
-Phish (see above)
-Men At Work
-Three Dog Night
-Starship

I was just flippin through channels here in Polska and I stopped on VIVA Plus.

There was this video by Daniel K. - You Drive Me Crazy.

Its the most outrageously sick piece of CRAP I have ever seen. And to think he is German just makes it hard to believe.

Theres a great comment by a Comedian called Bill Hicks, who sadly passed away a few years ago but remains hilarious. He said that when asked, "Who is your favourite New Kid (on the Block)?" he would reply, "umm, the one that dies first!".

I agree.

Jcs17,
I really have to disagree with Three Dog Night as a bad band. From 69-74 they were probably the most popular band in America. They sold more concert tickets, moved more records, and had more top 10 hits than any band. They had 21 consecutive top 40 hits, eighteen straight top 20s, eleven top 10s, seven #1 hits, 12 straight Gold LPs, and had sold well over 50 million records by 1975.

I think they are probably an extremely unrated band. The three part harmony in their songs is incredible. All the muscians in that band were top notch.
