Ok, so my boss calls me into his office to discuss the status of some projects i'm working. I explain to him that I was waiting a resoponse on an issue before proceeded to the next step, which is reslulting in a delay. Well, this was more than not acceptable to him.

He literally was yelling "I pay you all this money to do marketing work for me and you provide me absolutley no value whatssovever..." He goes on for like 1/2 hour just screaming yelling and tearing whatever sense of dignity I have. I explained to him that he is welll aware of all the projects I am working on..and then he said "those are all excuses" to which point I just went ballestic..."What the hell do you think i'm doing all day...i'm working my ass off doing the best I can trying to improve things around here.."

I swear there are like a million thing this company is doing wrong and could be a lot better off if they weren't so fucking cheap and actually cared about service. I've never had a manager until now that told me that I was "too honest..." I get yelled at if I don't more more than 8-hours without over time...the company doesn't pay vacation or sick time and honestly, prob retail managers make more money than I do to take this crap.

Anyway...too much babble...just venting

...since you've made the choice to subordinate your career to someone else, why get upset over something as relatively petty as that?

Sounds like you should seriously look for a new job.
If people don't show you even the slightest respect, then I don't think it's a healthy environment to be in.

My background is PR, Events and Communications...and trust me...the minute something opens up i'm so outta here. There just isn't a job to be found in my area in the Bay Area...*gulp*

I had a boss like that, my first job out of college. He was horrible.

You'll find something better...hang in there!

The best comeback to this type of boss would be: "Based on your experience and knowledge - what would you have done different sir?"

Then do "it" and report back any lack of progress.

well, really you ought not have gone off on your boss the way you did. there is a professional way to stick it to him, and take the high ground.

it is a fine line between standing up for yourself, and falling down to their level.

people like you manager just like to scream and be dramatic, when really they could give two shits about you or your job. its all about saving their ass.

Mikesairways, hell it is good to vent!!!

First of all, I think your smart to get out as soon as something comes up. But remember, don't just take the first thing that comes along or you might end up in the same situation. Be smart....and remember all good things come to those who wait.

I agree with North Country, ask your boss how he would have handled the situation. After all he is your boss and should be there to provide you with help when the need arises!!! So next time you run into a situation that may delay your work.......... let him know in advance, advise him of what your intentions are and then ask him for his advise.  Big thumbs up
