My best goes out to you and everybody in Jamaica. My parents called me two days ago when the hurricane passed my island (Curaçao) but luckily there was no real damage done to the island.
Where will Air Jamaica park its aircraft during the storm/hurricane? I assume they will send their aircraft elsewhere to neighbouring islands/ countries?

I know for a fact as it was a posted in a previous post, that Air Jamaica is flying in or already flew in one of their A340's and some A320 and A321's into FLL.

Yep, Ivan is back up to 165 mph winds. Highest sustained winds ever measured in a hurricane was 185 in Hurricane Gilbert.

While listening to liveatc from JFK, the ground controller and a BWIA pilot were having a brief talk about it over the radio, and the pilot said that Grenada had been set back 20 years.

There are reports of near total destruction on the Cayman Islands, it's early days yet but apparently there are floating bodies everywhere Good luck to everybody and I wish those who have already been hit a quick recovery. It seems like Jamaica was 'lucky' in that Ivan deviated and the eye missed the Islands. It seems the Caymans weren't so lucky and neither will Cuba be. Plus the 'cane' is a category 5!

While Ivan was pounding Jamaica, my thoughts were with the people there, but we were still offline due to Frances. (It's only been yesterday that we got ALL our utilities back.)
Now my thoughts are with all those people on the Caymans, Cuba and probably Yucatan as well.
Ivan does sound like a ferocious one indeed. Hope you make it through safely!
Scientists did predict a bad hurricane season 2004, and I fear Frances and Ivan weren't the last of these buggers.

Well guys its good to be back. We lost power and water on Friday and it returned yesterday. My DSl has been down due to the damaged cables in Cayman. I survived this storm and I must say my heart goes out to those persons who were harshly affected. I did managed to feel what category 4 wind feels like and i also took some pictures which I am having problems uploading ( can anyone help).

Looking at Redngold's graphic, I'm ~in the D of day in the 8 PM Thursday label. Looks like we won't have band practice outside on Thursday.
I just wish that it wouldn't rain at the game on Saturday. It's alumni band weekend--250 alumni in their band plus 200 high school prospectives in their band plus us.
