Its been a while since this fantastic show was discussed here. I just had a few questions.

1) Has filming for the sixth (and final) season started yet and when is it due to come out (in the UK)?

2) The last series ended with the Adriana (Drea de Matteo) being whacked for being a rat and to be honest I was gutted (who wouldn't be). However I came across this website: http://www.answers.com/main/ntquery;...rva&gwp=8&curtab=2222_1&sbid=lc02b

"Ultimately, her secret caught up with her after the FBI learned of her involvement in a murder and threatened to press charges against her unless she offered her full cooperation. She chose to reveal the truth to Christopher, hoping they could run away together and start new lives. Unfortunately, Christopher's loyalty to his crime family turned out to be greater than his love for her as he revealed Adriana's status as an informant to Tony Soprano. In accordance with the codes of organized crime, Tony had Silvio Dante drive Adriana someplace secluded to kill her. (Two things should be taken into account here, however. The first is that Drea de Matteo is still under contract to appear in the sixth and final season; the second is that the camera panned upward, away from Silvio and the crawling Adriana, before the single gunshot that supposedly killed her.)"

Can anyone confirm whether she'll be in the next season?

I can't find anything on their website http://www.hbo.com/sopranos/index.shtml ?

Thanks

Horus

Finally a "true" a.net mafia post.

The show is supposed to return in 2006. Don't know if its in spring or fall. Its a pain because I need to watch all the old episodes again to get me in the mood and remember all the situations.

I think Adrianna is dead. Didn't Silvio call Tony after the hit??

Then again if her sitcom Joey isn't renewed they might find a way to get her back.

Horus,

I was asking myself these questions earlier on today!

I'm annoyed that we have to wait till 2006 for the series 6 to appear!

As for Ade, Silvio Dante shot her out in the forest, if you recall. I don't see her making her way back into the series, just like Pussy Bompensiero he "Sleeps with the fishes".

I'd like for us Sopranos fans to come together and speculate on the Series 6! Will T get a new car? Will AJ get his pin?! Will Christopher hit rock bottom? Will New York and New Jersey go to war?!

Regards,
Justin  Smile

It pains you????? I have all 5 series on DVD box sets and never find it pain to watch them over and over (I lost count how many times I've watched them all). I'm a true mafioso at heart  box . Only jokin mate...or am I?  Wink

I know what you mean, and its even worse cos you know its the FINAL one.

Well they might pull a Den Watts like in Eastenders crossfingers

Quoting Jkw777 (Reply 2):
Will T get a new car?

Yeah, a Ford Escort

Quoting Jkw777 (Reply 2):
Will AJ get his pin?

Hmmm, not sure. I don't think he'll ever be a part of the 'business' but I think he'll leave his mark this episode...how? I don't know

Quoting Jkw777 (Reply 2):
Will Christopher hit rock bottom?

I think he might do something stupid. How will he ever look at Tony and Silvio again knowing they killed his gf. Remember what Patsy Pasisi almost did when he found out about his twin Phill. And Chris has the balls...

Quoting Jkw777 (Reply 2):
Will New York and New Jersey go to war?

I friggin hope they do...its been dragging on for too long...its a bomb waiting to go off.

Hey man, it takes a lot of time to watch all those episodes, especially the last two seasons because lets face it, they were kind of slow (still enjoyed them very much though!).

If we want to speculate, I think this season will be the end of Tony's organization.

FlyVirgin744, I was only pulling your leg. The epsiodes when Tony is dreaming can be quite dull and boring (the truth must be told).

That would seem like the logical ending but fans always expect a 'happy' ending, so having the finale show Tony's demise might not go down well.

There 2 things I hope to see this series/season:

1. That guy who raped Dr. Melfi gets what he deserves
2. Furio comes back...enough said.

They do a lot of flashbacks, look how Pussy re-emerged for the 'Christmas 1995' one in Series 3 I think.
So she could well make a 'comeback' of sorts.

Series 6 should only end two ways, Tony dead or banged up for life, a man with so many real or potential enemies, with his compulsiveness and way of rubbing those around him up the wrong way, as well as the large FBI effort ranged against him, has to go down one way or the other eventually.

There is a chat board www.sopranoland.com which I am a poster on and is one of the independent boards about this show. It has been rather inactive lately due to no new episodes. There are many posts speculating on the meaning of scenes, of episodes, who/when key people going to die, how the storyline will go, activities of the actors, info on filming going on, and so on.
I live in northern New Jersey where almost all of the show is filmed. I recognise the locations of many scenes in the show and some of them are within a few miles of my house, including the 'Bada Bing' a real 'go-go' bar by the name of 'Satin Dolls' on South Rt. 17 in Lodi, NJ.
The best speculation is that new episodes/the 6th season will start showing around March-April 2006 - far too long since the end of the 5th season.

Hey I'm sure you guys remember the episode when Jon Favreau comes on and he steals Christifa's script. In case you aren't aware, the Jon Favreau movie "Made" has a bunch of Soprano people. The movie is alright, mostly Vince Vaughn making an ass of himself but its worth it to see your soprano friends.

You guys call your Sopranos fans, then how come no one has mentioned whether that Russian who killed 40 Chechens will come back to get Tony.

My prediction for how the series will end is that the Russian who Christopher and Paulie tried to kill in the snowy woods that time will come back and kill Tony and a few others.

That was my favorite episode where Chris and Paulie get lost in the Woods when they were kill and burry the Russian, if you remember they made it back to where Paulie had parked his car but it was gone. They had to call Tony to pick them up, the Russian had most likely lived and stolen Paulies car.

Who else is going to steal a car in the Middle of the Pine Barrens.

Since the Russian ex Interior Ministry guy has not made a re-appearance since, I think that's the way they could wrap up The Sopranos;
Tony wins out in a war between families, (New York?) triumphant in victory he takes up the Russian mobster Slava's offer on some more business, cannot find Chris and Paulie when he calls them, (already been killed, not that Tony knows that yet), anyway he's got to meet up with Slava.
Meets him, and the missing man from Pine Barrens, end of Tony Soprano.
Be nicely ironic too, not Tony's misdeeds that do for him in the end, but Chris and Paulie's.

Just been watching series 5 again, love Chris's insult to that fat Vito during the 'did Adrianna give Tony a blow job' episode;
"Ya fuckin parade float".

And of course Pine Barrens had some hilarious scenes, my favourite being when Bobby turns up at Junior's house in all his hunting gear, he waddles in and Tony is almost doubled up with laughter.

There were quite a few things left unresolved in the past season. Unfortunately since it has been so long I don't remember them.

How can you have the 5th season on DVD when itr hasn't been released yet? Or are you supporting bootleggers?  Yeah sure

Also, filming is supposed to start in May of 2006!!!!! for the 6th season. Ridiculous.

Isn't series 6 supposed to be only 10 episodes long, as opposed to the usual 13?
And the last.
Much as I love the show, it should be the last, don't want it to get too lame.

(If moves to get the same 'standards and practices' enforced on cable operators as now exists on mainstream US TV succeeds, it would be pretty impossible to make a decent 'Sopranos' or 'Six Feet Under' or 'Curb Your Enthusiasm', all great shows, shown over here, that don't treat their audience like developmentally challenged children).

Another reason to let the show end on a high, still being great?

I don't think they will be killing off Tony. After the series is done on HBO, David Chase has stated it may appear as a feature film to contine the story.

Thats pretty funny, so they are bootlegs because HBO who distributes the DVD's does not have authorization yet to issue the 5th season. Something to do with the cast wanting a greater share of DVD sales before they sign off on it. Well done Horus.  Yeah sure

Changing the thread slightly, although still within the same subject:

What's your favourite episode in Sopranos?

My favourite by far is Pine Barrens , season 3 - no other episode made me laugh as much, plus brilliant story and acting...

EDKA, I wouldn't say this was my favourite but Episode 13 Season 4 when Carmela and Tony have the big bust-up comes to mind. I thought Edie Falco's performance was brilliant and it was a hell of a way to end a season.

KROC, I explained to you how I got it and that's that...

Pine Barrens is a classic, it's almost a comedy. Most all of them are my favorite. I can't wait for the last season. Does anyone know why Chase waits so long in between seasons? I hate that, the damn show will been on for ten years and there's 6 seasons.

I was just watching Episode 2 Series 3 and even though I must of watched it many times before, I noticed something different about the scene with Livia and Tony 'talking' in her living room. Was that part with Livia computer generated? What I mean is if you look at it her face it's alittle funny and all her lines are ones she said before in the first 2 seasons. I'm not sure if Nancy Marchand passed away before filming but it would explain that scene. Can someone just confirm?

Thanks in advance

Horus

p.s. Livia dies later in that episode

I doubt if Silvio would have lied to Tony.

Plus, he used some pretty foul language on Adrianna before he whacked her.

The Sopranos is not a show that is maudlin and that takes mercy on its victims.

Horus, since Nancy Marchand, who played Tony's mother from hell, was dead by the time that episode was filmed, yes it's effects, using bits from the previous two series.

Favorites? Where to start?

I like some of the set pieces, like when Christopher family and friends 'confronted' him about his drug addiction, or Janice's lame attempt to get everyone at Livia Soprano's wake to contribute a few words about her.

I like the way they are not afraid to write out strong and/or popular characters, like the Aprile character out of jail in series two, what a psycho, or Pussy (his demise was a classic episode), or Ralph.

I was slightly surprised that the previously much mentioned in previous episodes, Feech Lamana (Robert Loggia, excellent) did not last too long after his release in series 5.
