Topic: RE: Napster Username: DeltaRNOmd-80 Posted 2000-09-10 02:56:34 and read 513 times. I have it and love it. I can download all the underground rap singles that I wouldnt have heard on radio or MTV and I can listen to Adam Sandler without buying the CD. Great Idea. I would still buy the cd if I heard a song I really liked, because I dont have a portable MP3 player to take places. So I would have to buy the CD to play it when I wasnt at home. I think most people would still buy the CD if they didnt have a portable MP3 or even if they did because they might want to blast it in their car (no MP3 car sound systems yet, I dont think). So i dont think the artists are losing that much money. I feel sorry for the artists though, and can understand where Lars Ulrich and Dr. Dre are coming from.

Topic: RE: Napster Username: AC_A340 Posted 2000-09-10 11:11:23 and read 504 times. I love it!!! And just so you guys know, one of the major stereo companies came out with a car stereo that could play mp3 cd's. I think it was Kenwood.

Topic: RE: Napster Username: Derek H Posted 2000-09-10 15:50:38 and read 495 times. I LOVE IT! I got a computer with a CD-R and i can make my own cds and stuff with the songs I want...It is the best thing...i hope it never shuts down.....but yes, the only bad thing is it takes a millennium to download a song...but i'll wait!
Topic: RE: Napster Username: Saluki777 Posted 2000-09-11 01:33:55 and read 487 times. Not to brag, but we have Ethernet in my dorm room at Southern Illinos University Carbondale, & it takes me 5-10 mins.
Topic: RE: Napster Username: Mls515 Posted 2000-09-11 01:49:51 and read 486 times. 5-10 minutes for a song is nothing to brag about. That is nowhere near the capabilities of a 10 base T network (and light years from a 100 base T).
Topic: RE: Napster Username: Trvlr Posted 2000-09-11 02:07:23 and read 485 times. Saluki777: 5-10 minutes?!?!? That's the stone age!!
Topic: RE: Napster Username: CstarU Posted 2000-09-11 05:22:44 and read 484 times. I've downloaded over 2,000 songs. Downloading time depends on the other side, since I've got cable. I've downloaded files in less than one minute and over an hour.
Topic: RE: Napster Username: Saluki777 Posted 2000-09-11 21:16:16 and read 475 times. sorry, i typed wrong, i meant 5-10 seconds. I had just typed something else with minutes, that's what confused me.
Topic: RE: Napster Username: N312RC Posted 2000-09-11 22:13:03 and read 474 times. DSL and CD-Burner, great!!
Topic: RE: Napster Username: DeltaRNOmd-80 Posted 2000-09-11 23:47:41 and read 467 times. I got cable and it takes 3-4 minutes at the MOST to download a song. No rewritable cd drive tho, but I can still listen all the songs I want.
Topic: RE: Napster Username: FlyVirgin744 Posted 2000-09-12 00:06:06 and read 468 times. BOOOOO Metallica!!! Used to be my favorite band. I think that it is totally illegal like Metallica does, but I'm not complaining. This whole file sharing thing, its not sharing but duplicating. MP3s have started a new way of getting music and is here to stay so it is stupid to fight it. So since music is now free, just charge more for the concert, simple solution. But next time Metallica comes to town, I will not give them any of my money. As for speed, with my cable, I've been able to get a rate of 120 K/s, if I start downloading and it gets under 15 K/s, I try someone else. Long live Napster!! Try searching anti metallica websites, quite funny the things people say. ![]()
Topic: Metallica Username: AC_A340 Posted 2000-09-12 00:27:12 and read 467 times. I still do enjoy Metallica's music, but they're fighting something that can't be stopped. It is like trying to control how many children people bring into this world. Bad analogy, but you get the point. They said Napster has taken away people buying their cd's. I have to disagree. It is a great way to expose people to music that they would not here otherwise. They can not tell me that every one of their songs has been on the radio recently. And they say they aren't doing it for the money. Then why the hell would you be trying to fine them so friggin' much?
Topic: RE: Napster Username: Iflycoach Posted 2000-09-12 00:42:23 and read 464 times. I do have to say I cracked up during the VMA's when they had Lars on that one little comercial thing and it showed the guy downloading Lars comes in the guys says it sharing and Lars starts sticking Napster stickers on the guys stuff & even hi girfriend and the Lars called that sharing! HAHAHA
