Well, not for a week at least, having been to the Dentists today, getting 3 teeth out and being prescribed to a weeks supply of antibiotics (Amoxycillin or whatever it's called), I can not have a drink for another week
Positives are:
Money Will be Saved
Won't be affected by the smoke in pubs
Downsides are:
No posting on a.net when absolutely shitfaced
When you hear the noise of the Tartan Army Boys, we'll be coming down the road!

Damn, Kirkie, I didn't even know you HAD dentists in Scotland (or the rest of the UK for than matter).
Quoting ME AVN FAN (Reply 6): ever heard the rumour that they are thrifty up in Scotland ?
Thrifty? You think so? My dad (who was born in Glasgow) always tried to get me in cheaper. The old ferries between Malmö and Copenhagen had a toddler fare for kids under five years old, and my dad would claim that I was five years old for years, he stopped when I was nine!
Cheers
Mats
Sure, we're concerned for our lives. Just not as concerned as saving 9 bucks on a roundtrip to Ft. Myers.

You can drink when you have to take antibiotics. Once my dentist told me the same shit but I ignored him and drunk a few beers.... and as you can see, I am still alive.

You mean that you drunk a few beers instead of antibiotics?

Quoting Sabena332 (Reply 15): No, I took the antibiotic pills and washed them down with a few beers.
Good for you they worked. Actually, they had less of an effect (faster metabolism). And hey, maybe next time you can get a fulminant hepatitis from the mixture (not that I wish you that, don't get me wrong!)
Sorry, but some of the things doctors say are not bullshit. Not always.

Hmm... did that take place on your last flight with Lufthansa? That would explain a lot...
Seriously, not all antibiotics are the same. Some go well along with alcohol, others won't. Some even show side effects on calcium, so you would better not drink milk after you took them.
I once drank a couple of beers on the "wrong" antibiotics. Boy, what colours I saw... (Though it didn't kill me either, obviously)

Depends heavily on the antibiotic.
Alcohol may limit the effectiveness of the antibiotic, thus helping create antibiotic-resistent bacteria. Not funny ...
Seems that with this one you will be at least safer if you take alcohol:
Int J Clin Pharmacol Ther Toxicol. 1988 Sep;26(9):428-31.
Amoxicillin kinetics and ethanol ingestion.
Morasso MI, Hip A, Marquez M, Gonzalez C, Arancibia A.
Department of Sciences and Pharmaceutical Technology, Faculty of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Chile, Santiago.
The effect of ethyl alcohol ingestion on amoxicillin kinetics was studied. Eight healthy volunteers participated in the study. They received, in three separate occasions, a 500-mg dose of the antibiotic given with water, hydroalcoholic solution or pisco-sour. Blood samples were drawn at appropriate intervals. Amoxicillin was assayed using a microbiological method. Absorption and disposition parameters were calculated by classical pharmacokinetic techniques. There were no statistical significant differences in the rate of elimination of the antibiotic in the three experimental conditions. Ethanol affected significantly the absorption rate constant, lag time and t peak. On the other hand, Cmax and AUC were not significantly modified. Thus, it can be concluded that ethyl alcohol has influence on the rate but not on the extent of absorption.
