What's the deal in here? Why George Bush loves Mexico so much? He even said two days ago that Mexico is the most important US partner, eventhough Canada has the widest trade with US... It was really funny when he told the journalists to "shut up" in Spanish. But anyways he already met the Mexican president Fox 4 times . What's the deal?

I think it's because he is from Texas and Mexico is closer to home than Canada. He will probably outgrow this in the next couple of years, but in the mean time US-Mexico relations could become interesting.

His interest is probably because the changes currently taking place in Mexico will drastically change North America. It is a country of 100 million people that is getting serious about turning itself into a middle-class democracy.
A stable, mature, democratic and wealthier Mexico will bring enormous benefits to not just Mexicans, but Americans and Canadians as well. Contrary to the blather of Ralph Nader, Maude Barlow, Ross Perot and Mel Hurtig, trade is a positive-sum game that benefits everyone involved.
