Hi folks,
This question came up to my mind...... Are there many people in Germany whose family name is Hitler or have they changed it to something similar because of the prejudice it brings?
Perhaps my fellow German A.netters could tell me.....as it must be really bad to have that family name.
Its about the same with Adolph....not many people born after war still have that name in Germany....(unfortunately in Latin america one of the most famous singers is called Fito Paez and fito comes from adoplho...as a result many parents have called their sons Adolpho....which is very inconsiderate)

There was an article some years ago about 2 people in Austria, one had the name Adolf Hittler, the other one Heinrich Himmler. Both suffered a lot under their names, but they never changed them (it was offered to them, but they refused).
Adolf Hittler was a bus driver, he once was told by his boss that his name was Anton Hattel for the next trip: He was driving a Jewish group.
So yes, there are people around with that name. However the name Adolf as a name for children is, lets say, seldom today
ya of course man...was thinking too much about the singer
Quoting ME AVN FAN (Reply 1): the REAL writing is ADOLF, and under that name you can find numerous folks in Switzerland including Mr Adolf Ogi .
I was asking about hitler...and i know that in Switzeland many are called Adolf...was only wondering how much the popularity of the name Adolf went down in GERMANY
but my point was about HITLER

Hitlers own relatives and their descendants have changed their names.
I'll bet that there are a few people, though, who have changed their names to Hitler.....

According to Wikipedia, there are three remaining great-nephews of Adolf Hitler alive: Alexander Adolf Hitler, Louis Hitler and Brian Hitler. They're the sons of William Patrick Hitler, Adolf's nephew, and Bridget Elizabeth Dawling Hitler.
The three of them currently live in the USA under changed surnames. Some rumours state, they promised each other not to have children, so that Adolf Hitler's family line dies with them.
Saludos,

There was one Hitler in the San Diego phonebook when I lived there back in the 1970s. Never looked for Mussolini.
Happiness is not seeing another trite Ste. Maarten photo all week long.

There was an "Adolph" a couple years ahead of me in school, born long after the end of World War II. He usually went by the nickname "Rocky" but oddly enough didn't seem to mind being called by his real name.
While I'm sure there is no direct cause-and-effect, he also happened to be quite the juvenile delinquent, often in trouble with the law and eventually hauled off to reform school.

BOTH names are OFF-topic here. Hussein is the name of 100'000s of people including the late King Hussein bin Talal ... and Arafat is a GOOD "reference"
