Best I've been on must be ERASER in Warner Brothers Movie Park (in Germany)
and the one with 9 loops in park asterix (Paris), I don't know what it's called.
I made the mistake of saying pretty loudly so much for the French being romantic after some girls complained that they were perverts and staring at them. I got a lot of evils for it. LOL

Just one for me:

The wooden roller coaster on the beach at Santa Cruz, CA (the final scenes in "Sudden Impact" were shot on the coaster, and additional scenes on the boardwalk itself).

THE BIG SHOT Las Vegas
THRILL SEEKERS ONLY!!!
The big shot shoots you at 45mph from the 921 foot level to the 1081 foot level in 2.5 seconds...then lets you free fall back to the launching pad. You hit 4g's on the way up then 0g's as you float out of your seat on the way down.

The view from the top was fantasitc (If you opened you eyes ((I did, WOW))

I have been on Thunder Mountain Rail Road, Matterhorn, Space Mountain at Disneyland California and the one hellacious coaster on the Nevada/California State Line at Buffalo Bills. At the time it was built, it had the highest drop of any roller coaster. It went down like 15 stories or something inot a tiny hole in the ground. It was terrible. I *SO* want to do it again!

GO CANUCKS!!

If you guys think Oblivion in Alton Towers is good, you should try out Sheikra in Busch Gardens Tampa. Brilliant ride, 20ft higher than Oblivion, but as you don't plunge into a 100ft deep tunnel it looks much much higher, plus it sort of has a wierd inversion, and a second vertical drop where you don't stop at the top. Always been saying we needed an Oblivion that did more, now there is one!

I can't wait for my Fl. trip to ride that moster.

BTW, that "weird" inversion is called an Immelan (sic.) and is the same is the 2nd inversion on Montu (the invert in the same park).

Where did you get that POV of the first drop? That's a great shot.

Sheikra in Busch Gardens Tampa

OH MY GOD!! I went there in October! the first time I went in this awesome ride was in the first row! ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! Specially the time that the coaster stops in the beggining of the fall - I had the impression I´d embrace the whole world!

It´s difficult to say all the thrill rides I´ve already gone because I love theme parks and I go in everything! So count everything in Orlando and Tampa + everything in the Six-Flags, Universal and Disneyland in California!

What an excellent thread!! I simply LOVE roller-coasters and thrill-rides!

Rgs!

You folks need to get to Cedar Point in Sandusky Ohio. More rollercoasters of differing kinds than you can shake a stick at. Try top thrill dragster, 0-120 in like 3-4 seconds, up a 400 foot hill where your energy drains off just as you clear the top (hopefully, several times it's come down backwards) with a magnificent view of Sandusky Bay then back down the hill with a few twists to make it interesting and back into the gate all inside of 20 seconds. It's over so fast you don't have time to be scared. Then there is the millenium force, 300 feet up the hill and I hate every second of that.

Amen to that! I have been to MANY major theme parks and nothing compares to the extemity of the rides at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. It's just under an hour drive from CLE and it's situated on a peninsula that juts out into Lake Erie... Amazing views and more than half of their coasters have been record breakers at some point. Each year, they come out with something that tops any of the rides that any park in the world has. The latest and greated coaster is Top Thrill Dragster which blasts you off to speeds over 120mph, straight up four hundred feet, over a hump and ninety degrees right back down getting up to 120mph again... amazing rush.

been to parks all over the place but nothing really quite compares to the new Insanity or X-treme on top of the Stratosphere in Las Vegas, whereas you dangle off the side of a wonderfully tall building with nothing between you and the ground some 110 floors below.

Yeah, I went to Las Vegas this summer as well and went on top of the Stratosphere and went on all 4 rides! The "Big Shot" which is the freefall tower as you described above, the "X-Scream" which is a teeter-totter style ride that drives over the edge of the tower (yes, you're on a track) while bouncing up and down (by the way, a few weeks ago this ride got stuck while it was over the edge when the power went out stranding 6 japanese tourists for 90 minutes in the dark. That would have scared the sh*t out of me!), the "Insanity" which also puts you over the edge of the tower while it spins you in circles at high speed (designed to stop in high wind), and their is also "High Roller" a roller coaster which is considered the highest roller coaster in the world at 909 feet high!!!!!!! It's best to go up there at night when all the lights on the strip are on.
