The bodies of Sarah and Philip Gehring, who were kidnapped and murdered by their father in July 2003 after a custody dispute, were found in a shallow grave in Hudson, Ohio. Manuel Gehring, their father, gave authories a description which was both detailed (by objects in the area) and vague (he could not recall where he had left Interstate 80 to bury them.) Mr. Gehring committed suicide before his trial ever began.
Stephanie Dietrich, an Akron (OH) resident who had been conducting private searches with her dog since this summer, located the bodies on Thursday, December 1. Within the area were the objects that Mr. Gehring had described.

I was eating at Chipotle's when I read that story in yesterday's newspaper - somehow I picked up The Columbus Dispatch newspaper on a table left unattended there and read the story.
