Pakistan's Airspace Sold For $30 Billion

As you probably know, Pakistan has agreed to let the US and its allies (except Israel and India) use the country's airspace in case of a future military operation against the Taliban. In return, the Pakistani Government expects its $30 Billion debt to the US and other international bodies to be erased. The "deal" does not include the use of Pakistani soil by US/NATO troops, nor the direct involvement of Pakistani troops in the operation.
Although not as important as the $30 bil, Pakistan also hopes that its co-operation with the US will result in the US supporting Pakistan in the Indian-Pakistanian conflict.

Havent heard that, but I assume something along those lines was drawn up. Don't think the US will simply erase 30 billion in debt, but Pak. got something out of this.

As far as the Indo-Pak row, the US has been much closer to India than Pak for a long time now.

When you think about it though, if the US really feels they would never see a dime of the 30 billion had this conflict not occured, then it may be true and worth it.
