I'm in for this. Hey, NE A.netters, and other nearby compatriates - let's make this happen. The NE Air Museum is really cool.

I'll be in Boston that weekend. Perhaps we can make a detour to BDL if it's not a far drive.

I can probably make either date. The museum is very nice for anyone who has not been there. It would be nice if the open the canopy of the newest display, an F-14.

My Dad lives in East Windsor, just minutes from BDL, but I'll be in school. Does the museum allow you to go inside Excambian during an open-cockpit, er, -cabin day? How about the Caravelle outside? It's a regular picture, or I'd post it, but I've got a picture of myself three years old in the cockpit of their B-29 (1987). Must've been an open-cockpit day.

They dont open the excambian, they did too nice a job on the interior  Wink, they dont like folks inside. As for the tomcat, that was just put in the last time i went, so it *may* be open as they like to open all the fighters.

Unfortunately, both Sundays (1/15 & 2/19) don't work for me; I have a prior commitment on the early afternoon of Jan. 15th and I will be away visiting family during President's Day weekend (Feb. 17-20).

If my President's Day travel plans get aborted due to bad weather occurring either that Friday, Saturday, or Monday (which has happened to me twice in the last 5 years); then I might (key word might) be able to head up there. But for now, I wouldn't bank on it.

As I mentioned to Justin/Cadet57 earlier; in general, Saturdays usually work better for me. Does the museum offer the Open Cockpit Days on any Saturdays?

My available Jan./Feb. Saturdays are as follows:

Jan. 7
Jan. 14
Jan. 28 (would have to leave in early afternoon, though)
Feb. 4
Feb. 11
Feb. 25

Keep me posted.

No, unfortunately its SUN only, but they also have on on 3/19 we could bump it til then, if anyone would want to.

Does the museum have the Open Cockpit Days on every 3rd Sunday of each month? What are the museum's hours of operation and the Open Cockpit hours of operation?

While March 19 can work for me (since I will have sufficient notice); don't bump the date by 2 whole months solely on my account. Go by majority consensus; that usually worked in past A.net meets. If I can't attend, I can't attend.

Yep third sun of each month. Museum is open 10-5 mon-sun, but on open days, the planes close at 4 but the musuem at 5. I think we'll keep it in feb, i'll take your advice on that one, as I dont think we should keep changing it on people.

Any thoughts on whether we should spot first, then do the museum? We should probably base this on air traffic - I know at BOS on Sundays, Noon to 3 PM is fairly quiet, but it picks up after that. Maybe we could meet about noon, get some lunch, go to the museum from ~1-3 PM, and then spot ~3-5 PM?

Justin,

If you can, you might want to correct the date the Thread title to avoid any confusion.  wink

Sorry, I can't make it.

I'm going to ATL this weekend, and I know the wife needs some stuff doing around the house sooner rather than later.

I'm still planning on going to YYZ in April though!

I've never tried to edit a thread title before, but what you might want to do is double-click on the About Airliners.net link located at the bottom-right of this thread and scroll down to the list of Forum moderators and send them an IM on the matter.

Hey Guys,

I spot at BDL all the time, so I may be able to pop in at the Feb 19th date.. I'll let you know as time goes on. Keep in mind as far as the tentative schedule Logan22L mentioned above, 3-5pm at BDL is tough in February. Sunlight may be pushing 4:30 or 4:45 if you're lucky, but the lighting is tough. Mid- to late- morning is usually good as far as lighting goes. Early afternoon even works. I'd suggest spotting 10-12 or 1-3, and have the museum visit opposite with lunch wedged in from 12-1. Just my  twocents
