In my mind, aviation is rather geekish and, perhaps, rather macho. So, then, why is there such a high concentration of homosexuals herein? Is it primarily due to the high number of men? Or is aviation really, to quote a good Placebo track, for a 'Nancy Boy' - a woman's man, a mothered monkey, just another happy junkie?

I've wondered this myself (Not directly about airliners.net) but Hommo's seemed to have the transport thing going... If It's not planes, It's trains, Or scarily... Trucks (Scary) - I guess it's like the Female pop singer thing... The queers seem to flock to them, I know myself, I speak from personal experience... I guess it's the camp quality of liking geeky things, Same goes for Comic Books... Strange

LMAO!! If anyone came up with this thread, it had to be you!!
I have to admit that, after some 35 years + of spotting in one form or another, I had never imagined so many of my fellow enthusiasts were gay. It does seem that we have an inordinate number here.
However, it is also nice that both straight and gay seem to get on so well together with little sniping either way. And that either group can accept a certain amount of ribbing.

I, for once, am heterosexual and crazy about aviation since I was a kid.
On the other hand, don't you think that stereotyping like this is not only meaningless but a tad insulting as well? Why there has to be a connection between the love for flying and the sexual preference? Or should all homosexuals be surfing on the "Martha Stewart" website only? Or a NFL website, which has also a high number of men... (no offense meant, I love football).
This topic seems to have been discussed extensively in the past, hasn't it?

Hmm Geekish? - so is IT and a lot of gay guys work in that too.
Macho? - most gay men look and act like hetrosexual guys to be honest. The loud and proud group tends to be a minority - especially in this country.
Why this site? well maybe ask why aviation has such a high proportion of gays working in it? I believe only catering and hospitality has more. And its not just the sterotype cabin crew and customer service positions. Plenty of managers, consultants, pilots and even a few CEOs of major airlines are.
So no surprise on an aviation website to me if I'm honest.

Quoting FlyAUA (Reply 8): Homosexuals are taking over the world *muahahahaha* devil
As for all the poofters (as they are called around here) on the site, I don't know. They can do what they want, however they have ruined the Self Picture threads with all their moaning about each other and sucking up to FlyAUA.
Meh, who cares. They are all here because they are interested or take part in aviation related stuff, so we all have a similar interest.

isnt 1 in 10 males in the UK supposed to be gay? If so then the number of gays on this forum is not really all that surprising.
To be honest I dont think there are more gays on this forum than any other forum, just on here they are more willing to talk about their sexual preferences.
I would put it down to the more relaxed atmosphere on here rather than any sort of gay/aviation link.
