According to CNN, US launched an air attack on some remote village in Pakistan where Al Qaeda #2 was hiding and it seems that he was killed there. Also, it seems that nobody knows what happened to him.

From what I read they didn't get him, but killed 17 innocent villagers, including 5 children.

Well done, the struggle for hearts and minds is clearly one the US is winning.

I wonder how much support for the terrorists this will create.

Yankees, think about it. Some people from a foreign country doing that kind of thing inside the US and there would be no consequences for them. What would you do?

If they where sheltering him....they weren't innocent.

In legal terms, they where harboring a fugitive and accessories to 3000 murders after the fact.

and if they weren't sheltering him? then what's the difference to these innocent people (for example, the couple who lost 3 children) and the innocent people of 9/11? nothing!

to these people, tragedy has come...

now lets see who from the United States side gets prosecuted over this bungled attempt...

NO ONE!

so stop hiding behind your 9/11 pretense to attack anything and everything...

DAMADOLA, Pakistan (AP) -- Weeping villagers dug through the rubble of homes destroyed in an apparent pre-dawn air strike that killed at least 18 people in a remote Pakistani tribal village, the second such unexplained attack near the volatile Afghan border within a week.

Residents of Damadola, a hillside hamlet about 7 kilometers (4 miles) inside northwestern Pakistan, said Friday that children and women were among the dead. They recounted hearing aircraft flying overhead before bombs or missiles crashed through the Pashtun tribal village -- blasts that were felt by people miles away.

-
Can you PROVE that they were sheltering him ? hardly ! your conclusion rather sounds like an accusation without real basis.
-
The killed and the wounded villagers ARE fully INNOCENT until anything different is proven. Beside the point that around 10 of the dead were children.
-
Simply looks as if the CIA had failed to do proper work. Either he has NOT or NEVER been there, or they simply "marked" the wrong house.

We have, and will continue to fight this war against terrorism.

You and others on here forget that this is war and in war bad things happen to people. Innocent and guilty. Just ask the civilians of Dresden or Nanking.

War sucks if you are in the middle of it. Lets not try to simplify the morality of your own high horse.

This war started on September 11th and we will finish it at a time and place that WE will determine. Warning: Hang around bad people, expect to possibly get blasted. Sorry for that. Life is cheap. Just ask Haji the human bomb. You want to send outrage....send it there. They "love" civilians.

Life moves on.

of course, you US-Americans just as most nations fight against terrorism, but the expression "war" is misleading. It is like "war against the mafia" "war against drugs" "war against fascism" "war against torture" "war against poverty" "war against dullness" "war against ignorance" "war against arrogance" etc. The word is misused in a propagandistic way

Quoting ClipperHawaii (Reply 16):

NO, it is NOT. There is no war in Pakistan, at worst civil unrest and so rather a police matter.

IF doing so sinking to the level of some demonstrators and adapting the standards of some demonstrators. Except that THEY in private most likely have more differentiating thoughts and ideas.
