Ok gang

here's a question:

What would you do if you won a million quid (equivalent in your currency) - what would be the first things you'd do:

Me, I'd quit work in an instant, I'd provide my family enough to live in luxury, I'd book me and Mr AB on a world cruise, I'd look at properties to buy in some of the most beautiful places in the world. I'd give large amounts of money to children's, cancer and animal charities.....the list is endless

And you ?

With a million quid, you would struggle to do all that. It takes 3m now to live a milllionaires lifestyle.

However if I won the 100m Euromillions draw, I would spend a year or two travelling the world and living it up, buy a nice house abroad, and a private plane to get there.

Then after a year or two I would set up my own business, probably an airline...

Depends on how much I win. First off I would set up my sister in a decent house, and my neices and nephews with college fund. (My sis is a struggling single parent). Move back to California. Quit. Start my own business of some type. Set up some investments (real estate). Buy an airplane.

Need more than a million Claire! Big grin

however, if by some remote chance I won a lot then I would give my children a lump sum to be put in trust, I would buy a decent sized house, new car for me and the missus, I would go away for a month after telling my boss to stuff his job where the sun dont shine, I would make sure the MAN meet went with a big bang Big grin and then I would hide somewhere nice and torment A.net with tales of exotic travel and fantastic pictures! Big grin

A million quid is just not enough to make all my dreams true Big grin , but it would make my life much better.

Also, I would insist on staying anonymous to the public. I simply don't want to see all those so-called friends and relatives of mine who turned away when I needed them badly, doing some serious b... kisiing. It would made me feel sick.

Same here. I'd still work, but the money I got from working would go to charity. My job would be a whole lot easier if I knew that my livelyhood no longer depended on it.

I would pay off all my student debt and then put almost half into a high-interest bank account and use the remaining amount to travel for as long as possible (with £500,000, I could realistically travel for about 45-50 years). I'm not interested in big houses or flashy cars. Most of my family have good jobs and are secure, etc., so I woudn't give them much - perhaps a chocolate bar (on a BOGOF basis) or a Ryanair flight (as long as it's 99p+tax).

well my friends were talking about this recently when the lotto got to 360 million USD.

I for one decided

1) quit work (possibly tell off boss since hes being an arse lately)
2) pay off all my debts (credit card, school, auto)
3) pay off my parents mortgage
4) buy a Cessna Citation Mustang
5) finish my flying lessons
6) travel the world
7) give to charity
8) invest

wait a minute, u said a million quid? i guess that leaves me only with 2,5,7,8 that i can actually do.

1) Pay of college debt.
2) Get a half decent car.
3) Move out of this stinking student flat... and make sure the landlord will know what I think of him. (How much does a hitman cost these days?  Wink)
4) Order the most extensive camera set-up available at a camera shop that ripped me off, and tell them I will pick up the lot at another franchise holder of their chain. The look on their face when they hear that should be worth it.  devil

A million pounds is about 2.05 million C$. So I would probably take the boys out for a heavy weekend, take my girlfriend somewhere sunny for a couple weeks and get right back to work. Not because I want to but because it's the type of sum that's nice to have but not really enough to make a huge change in my life.

Not the 10p flights that are on offer at the moment?  Silly

I would go into work and tell them to kiss my ass, and stick their shitty job where the sun don't shine. I would go to the pub and celebrate with my family, buy my folks a bigger place and give them some money. I would take my grandparents to see grandad's brother in New Zealand. Then book a few flights to places I've always wanted to go. I'd buy property around the world and buy a nice car. I would also build a bar/restaurant/nightclub venue in Spain and make my other fortune from that.

You and me both, at todays exchange rate that would mean an income of $175,000NZ pa, if I was earning that I would think I was a millionaire anyway!!

From £1000000? I'd hate to know what you plan to use as building materials.

checkmark  Me too. If it was even up to 2 million US$, I'd still keep my job. A mil just doesn't go as far as it used too. Especially with these gas prices!!

Nowthen, if we were talking super lottery stuff, well, let's see.....

- Build two dream houses, one in North Carolina and the other in Colorado.
- Fill up my ultimate garage.
- Buy a refurbished Cessna 210 and a new Pilatus PC-12 to go in my hangar dream homes..
- Some charities of course.
