The Bundesliga winter break is finally over, the last five weeks have been a pain without football.

Tonight it starts with a classic, Borussia Mönchengladbach vs. Bayern Munich. This will be a pretty hard game for Bayern, the didn't win in Gladbach since 16. December 1998, let's see if they have more luck tonight.

The other games of this weekend:

Saturday:

  • 1. FC Nuremberg vs. Hamburger SV

  • 1. FSV Mainz 05 vs. 1. FC Cologne

  • VfB Stuttgart vs. MSV Duisburg

  • Borussia Dortmund vs. VfL Wolfsburg

  • Bayer Leverkusen vs. Eintracht Frankfurt

  • Hertha BSC Berlin vs. Hannover 96

  • Sunday:

  • 1. FC Kaiserslautern vs. Schalke 04

  • Arminia Bielefeld vs. Werder Bremen

  • Looks like an entertaining weekend to me.

How do you think will your favourite team do? Can Hamburg, Bremen or even Schalke overtake Munich in the upcoming weeks?

    Patrick

    It's about time!!

Why does the Bundesliga take such a break?

Anyways, I'll be continuing my vigil with Eintracht Frankfurt. A nice win the other day to reach the semis in the League Cup.

Have the draws been made yet for the semis?

Hasn't it been a frigid/snowy winter in Germany? I wouldn't want to be running around in shorts in that sort of weather. Plus, how can you play football in snow?

It can be done. Change the football and secondly change your footwear (in the olden days we changed our plastic cleats to leather). It doesn't hurt to wear gloves and a long sleeved shirt.

oh, a shovel helps. i'm sure the big teams have a few laying around.  Wink

Or, as a radical alternative, you could turn on the undersoil heating....  Wink

If you happen to be known by a name like "XYZ Football, Inc." maybe - not if you merely want to have a good time playing football.

Indeed. But since when have those who play for fun worried in the slightest about snow? You don't even change the colour of the ball, you jut get on with it and laugh when your mate ends up head first in a snow drift.  Wink

Who'd have thought a Kraut might one day agree with a Tommy on a football issue?  duck

Anyway, I think winning at home against Hanover should be possible.

Yes Logan, it is very cold over here.  cold

Very nice game indeed, though I'm still a bit angry that the 4:1 wasn't counted by the refs. Offside, yeah right. But anyway, the HSV will have a hard time catching up with Bayern, even with their new "Super-Hyper-Mega-Ultra-Extreme-Offensive" Ailton.
And Werder won't have much of a chance either.
And speaking of Werder with regards to their complaints about the lawn for the Pauli-game: Sh*t up, crybabies!

I am about to go watch Nurnberg play Hamburg, and the sun is shining here! It is warmer than I have been in Germany since getting here 2 months ago, at least if you are in the sunlight. I don´t live in this city and have never seen either of these teams play.
