What a great track! Does anyone else like it?

Here's the lyrics I typed out:

Why must every generation think their folks are square
And no matter where their heads are they know mom´s ain´t there
Cause I swore when I was small that I´d remember when
I knew what´s wrong with them that I was smaller then

Determined to remember all the cardinal rules
Like sun showers are legal grounds for cutting school
I know I have forgotten maybe one or two
And I hope that I recall them all before the baby´s due
And I knoe he´ll have a question or two

Like "hey Pop, can I go ride my zoom
It goes two hundred miles an hour suspended by balloons
And can I put a droplet of this new stuff on my tongue
And imagine frothing dragons while you sit and wreck your lungs"
And I must be permissive, understanding of the younger generation

Then I´ll know that all I´ve learned my kid assumes
And all my deepest worries must be his cartoons
And still I´ll try to them him all the things I´ve done
Related to what he can do when he becomes a man
And still he´ll stick his fingers in the fan

And "Hey, Pop, my girlfriend´s only three [is this referring to GKirk?]
She´s got her own videophone and she´s taking L.S.D.
And now that we´re best friends she wants to give a bit to me
But what´s the matter Daddy, how come you´re turning green?
Can it be that you can´t live up to your dream?"

What other brilliant tracks do they have?

old You young whipper-snappers don't know crap about dem 'ol '60's tunes. We used to listen to the Spoonful all day ....an then some Jefferson Airplane! Goddammit......you greenpeas never even heard of Randy California or the group "The Standells"? Ya gotta have a record player to listen to that. When I was your age.......

To answer your question.....IMO...as an old fart.....age somewhere between ANCFlyer and Skidmarks.....as a person who has "Lovin' Spoonful on 8-Track tape.....and owns a record player.....

"Butchies Tune" is my all time Spoonful fav.

LOL. I have quite a few of them. Lots of them are very good. The lyrics of older songs also tend to be more exciting - look at Beefheart's ones.

I'll see if I can get it.

old Well don't take all day! Dammit.....you kids have that......that....interweb thing.

When I was your age...we had to go all the way to "Liquorice Pizza" to buy our records. And they were on Vinyl! Not this plastic crap you call DC's or MPC's or CDP's....whatever the hell.

You kids are all mixed up.

Those could be good lyrics actually, for Younger Generation 2.

I won't tell you about how many country music and bluegrass CDs (my father's) I listen to. LOL. How sad?!  Silly

'Darling Be Home Soon' is another corking Spoonful song, i'd recommend a best of if you haven't already got one James. Obviously you'll know 'Summer in the City', and 'Daydream', they are very well known. For a corking British 60's band, try The Zombies, they were superb.
