We seem to be living in a time when people base the success on a relationship on the looks of those involved. ‘Oh, she’s far too good for him,’ or ‘he could get someone far nicer.’ I think that’s not only amazingly shallow but also stupidly narrow-minded. Don’t people realise nowadays that a successful, sustainable relationship – and not a lustful one-night stand – is based on both physical and non-physical attraction? Yes, you must definitely be attracted to the other person – lust is, of course, an important consideration – but I think non-physical attraction, i.e. in terms of personality, interests, outlook, whatever, is more important in a serious relationship than mere physical attraction.

Also, what’s the deal with make-up? I much prefer natural beauty to some dolled-up tart who looks like two bags of dried shit the next morning. Almost all my girlfriends have worn little make-up. Don't get me wrong - a little can be sexy. But a truck-load of it is repulsive.

What are your views on the subjects?

The only thing I can conclude from this thread is that Pe@rson has gone too long without sex, and hence is giving serious consideration to lowering his already pitiful standards in an attempt to get his hole .....  Smile

LOL.   Good attempt but no. 4 months is no time. And I always get nice women - in both respects. Don't quite know how, but...   Anyhow, I am now dedicated to getting a woman who is as passionate about most, if not all, of my interests (aviation can be excluded) as it's rather frustrating when a girlfriend isn't as into them as I am.

Anyway, this is a (relatively) serious thread, so...  Smile

 checkmark

I do not like make-up. Why try to hide who you really are?

In regards to superficiality, it is unfortunate that this is how many relationships are based. Yes, it is very important to be attracted to someone but if you think that Fidel Castro is the leader of the Soviet Union (happened to me a couple years ago, and yes, she thought the Soviet Union was still in existence), I'm going to go ahead and not talk to you again. Fun, smart people are far better than beautiful airheads. Of course, that's just my opinion.

We are living in a world that looks at you, judges and then ask questions... I'm afraid we can't do much but hope it's just a phase... it makes me sick though, I agree with you 100% pe@rson...

As for makeup... I don't really wear makeup myself... when I do, it's a little foundation, mascara and very little eyeshade... usually for parties, job interview or some other special event.. haven't had any negative remarks.. I honestly feel like I'm faking something if I were to wear a 12 inch layer of makeup.

There's no way I can live up to the model image anywat... getting depressed over that and trying to hide my face with makeup is just a waste of time..

For some strange reason, I agree with you, Pe@rson  Smile It is scary and I might even seek some professional help.  Wink

Seriously, you are right, but.... You have a whole industry of magazines, TV shows, dolls, etc. that force women and girls to spend fortunes annualy just to look good (in fact, to look almost like super models).

As for relationships, there is something that I never understood. Girls who start searching the most suitable husband more than spending time with someone who can simply make them feel nice. I have seen numerous relationships being broken up, just because a girl at some point realized that the guy doesn't fit into her ambitions. She might even still like the poor guy, but there is someone else who can simply give more of the outside glory. So, love is traded for convenience in such cases and it makes me really sad.

Yes, but there is always something that catches one's attention. It doesn't have to be the pure but, but something.....

Makeup is not the only problem. What about wonderbras and other similar products?

Same goes for them. Never used them, probably never will. And my boyfriend doesn't complain (and he'd better not either)  Wink

I think Hollywood needs to take a lot of blame for most of this. Apparently, you're a right cow if you're not close to 6' tall, legs up the wazoo, huge breasts, and an absolutely PERFECT face. Sadly, too many women follow that idea, and don't realize that most of those magazine pics have been airbrushed all to hell, and the actress/model is wearing a TON of makeup.
I do wear a bit of makeup, but could not be described as having been dolled up like a tart. Granted, I do highlight my hair but only becauser I hate the grey!!
When you get to my age, and divorced, you suddenly realize that most single straight men of a similar age are all looking for that Hollywood ideal, perhaps because they too are afraid of aging..who knows?
