An Unnecessary Gathering Of People Called Peter!

I dug out my old lap-top today because the computer that I built last year took a crap on me (darn you AMD!) and I was looking through old bookmarked web pages.

I found Peter's Ruler Of The World web page which had a link that took me to the point of this thread:

The Pete Collective

Quoting website:
In 2004 some friends bet that I couldn't get a bunch of other people called Peter to meet up with me at the same time in the same place. Inspired by the challenge and discovering that there have been gatherings of Marias in Spain and Mohammeds in Dubai, I decided to up the stakes & go for the world record. I set up this website to entrap my namesakes and get them to pledge allegiance to meet me on 10th June 2006 in London & 'Give Pete a chance'. I need 2000 Pete's on board, to meet me in one place, at the same time. What could be simpler.

Now, my name is not Peter, so I'm not going. Anyone here planning on attending?

Not unless the "Duplicity of Duanes" is next door.

My brother's name is Peter; however, being the old git he is, he'd probably say something like, "that sounds so lame, why the hell would I go there?"

Must it be pure Peters only? Can Pedro, Pietro, Pierre, Per, Piers, and Boutros come along too?

At work, I am continually getting telephone solicitations for the "Owner or General Manager". I say "he's not in" and then when asked for his name I say "Griffin....Peter Griffin". Now, when they call back and ask for their 'ol buddy "Pete", I know its a telemarketer. After about 2 years of doing this, Peter Griffin is a sweepstakes winner, wins cruise vacations and is credit worthy enough for a Citi Bank Corporate card with an "up to" $100,000 limit.

I think I'm going to terminate Peter Griffin and replace him with Willie Peters.
