While I didn't like the remake of the original Beetle too much, I think this modification is really cool. It has been designed by EDAG, a car modder in northern Germany and they are seeing a serious demand for the model. Basically they're leaving the front section how it is, and changing the rear to be much bigger and with a proper tail gate. Cool indeed.

Sorry, only a German link:

I'd like to see a real prototype, as apposed to a few compter generated models

Came across that article on Spiegel online yesterday, I think it is looking cool but I doubt that they will build it -at least not with leather covered bumpers  Wink

Looks pretty cool. Like a rally car type thing. VW is bringing out a smaller version of the Touareg which I dont seem to like much.

Oh god that sucks. The blindspot behind the rear passenger seat must be atrocious and the 1980's spare tire doesn't do much to help. It almost makes me mad that someone's life is devoted to thinking up such worthless garbage.

Earth to VW: stop toying with Ken and Barbie concept cars, get your costs together, and start building reasonably priced cars that don't break down.

Nasty is all I have to say. The PT Cruiser is also hideous.

This has to be one of the hideous designs I have seen in a while. Its the B1900D of the road, except at least the B1900D has reason to look ugly...

Oh it'd be fun trying to back that out of parking spot between two huge SUV's.  Yeah sure

So true... The good old times of the VW Golf 2 in the 80s are long ago... The new VW Passat is great, though, just expensive...
