The video is funny with the teacher explaining the difference between the 2 words.

And the poor judgement of the year award goes to. . . the English teacher stupid enough to call his student nigga. Kids today use the word fuck all the time too, but last I checked its not ok to for a teacher to call a kid 'fuckhead'.

There is a huge hypocriscy in who and when it's ok to use the 'N' word, but a teacher yelling at a student is the last place to point it out!

The teacher is a moron! He was simply trying to be hip (if you believe him) OR he was offensive if you believe the student.

Regardless, he (at his age) should have known better.

If he sees his female students calling each other 'BIATCH or BITCH left and right....' would do that too???

Would any self respecting FEMALE 'TEACHER'?

Yeah, he had to learn the hard way.

And this worse part is he does with a geek black kid. A smart over-achieving kid... I wonder if he had the cajones to do with one of the THUG kids in his class? The one's who actually DO use the term.

Not only that, she had to do the face-to-face interview... the teacher really had to change up gears to prepare for that.

Amongst young teachers like myself we have a two word phrase to sum up our feelings about these kind of cases.

I don't think he should worry about them too much as it was an honors class he was teaching.

I just don't get it why it's OK for an African American to say it. "Part of thier culture" doesn't make sense. It's still making a positive out of one of the most negative words ever created.

Niggah and Niggar are the same word, just sometimes when certain people say it they don't pronounce the "R." Teachers and professionals should not use curses in professional settings but, otherwise, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. It's just a fucking word. Get over it.

Disarming perjorative and insulting terms by claiming them as your own is a long established pattern in many languages and cultures. It isn't surprising at all. Don't forget, the word itself only became viewed in a negative light comparatively recently.
