Nice story, on the BBC website

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/4715822.stm

I've always liked Willie Nelson, he seems like a nice guy all-round as well as an entertainer.

I heard it on Howard Stern yesterday. Not surprised by Stern playing it, as he's become a fan of "Brokeback Mountain", and has put together some parodies of it involving members of his show.

Just downloaded the song. It's pretty cool. Neat of Willie to do this!

Cartman: No dude, independent films are those black and white hippie movies. They're always about gay cowboys eating pudding.

Wendy: No they're not. Independent films are produced outside the hollywood system. They're movies without all the glitch and glamour of Hollywood.

Cartman: Well, you show one independent film that isn't about gay cowboys eating pudding.

You associate Willie Nelson with 'Hollywood'? Besides, no one is making you listen to it. You chose to read this thread, too.

Yeah, I do. Nelson's been in a number of Hollywood flicks, even as a cameo.

Something tells me he won't be performing it at the Grand Ole Opry or the
Country Music Awards anytime soon!!

Deal with it.

Well, since you put it so nicely.  Wink

Actually, to be frank, there isn't even ONE gay cowboy movie. The characters in that Brokeback movie are actually sheep herders.  Smile

I loved this lyric - "Inside every cowboy there's a lady who'd love to slip out" rotfl

I wonder how Willie Nelson would think he knows this about "every cowboy". Really. Is he psychic or something?

I can say one thing, Willie's songs helped me though some of the worst days of my life. I am glad to see him still in the mix ...

Hey, nothing wrong with Willie Nelson. It's just that it seems like he's hopping on this gay cowboy thing. Not like him to be quite so faddish.

 Silly

Ha! Now I almost wish I hadn't sent in a suggest delete, just so that line stands.

He wrote the song in 1981.
